Hi Xiao - Interesting tip on the fstop. I don't take this type of architectural image all that often . . . I'll have to give that a try next opportunity. Thanks -
Happy 2023 - I hope the new year provides you with many happy memories. |

Hi Kamal - The changes made work beautifully. One last artifact on the fence bottom right might be addressed as you did with others or perhaps cropped out. Nicely done - |

Hi Greg - What an unexpected capture of Santa and the Dude - not your typical submission. I like the choices made in post processing enabling the viewer to focus on the main subjects. I also like that both men are looking directly at the camera. The lighting seems a little harsh although I find the skin tones appropriate. Overall, an amusing depiction of holiday merriment . . . oh the things only Santa has to put up with! |

Hi Tom - I am impressed with your efforts at nature photography. You get extra points for degree of difficulty. I must say, you don't go the easy route. as you have coupled your endeavor with night photography and a subject that is hard to appropriately capture in the best of light. Your image has that WOW factor - creatively presented, with striking color balance and lighting. I do agree with others on cropping suggestions. Overall a remarkable image that shows off your photography skills - well done! |

Hi Xiao - This image works on so many levels. Overall a gorgeous image, technically very well done with a strong impact. It has an artistic and vulnerable feel throughout. I have no suggestions to offer. Well captured! |

Hi Kamal - Congratulations on your efforts to grow your photography processing skills and on your first composite image. I find the image a bit busy and with artifacts remaining so agree with Ingrid's cropping suggestion which eliminates much of those concerns. I like the photo for all the reasons mentioned by Tom and Ingrid, especially how the moon and sculpture compliment each other. Nice job - |

Hi Karen - Portraits that properly capture the subject's personality and environment can be challenging. The choice of natural lighting, those great colors and your friend's comfortable pose are creative and instrumental in image's successful outcome. There is a fine line between distraction and telling the story, so if you can't show more of her studio, I can see why the paint brushes that she uses in her art are integral to the portrait. I also like the color chosen for the border and how the image is cropped. There is some blur between the background and her hair in the upper right that is a bit distracting - otherwise a most suitable portrait. More importantly, I hope Barbara thinks so too! |

Hi Ingrid - I'm impressed with the effort and impact you created through post processing. I agree with Greg's and Tom's comments. The conversion to black and white and adding the additional fog (even if there hadn't been dirty window blotches) were good choices and added to the burn area mood, feel and conveys the story you were after. I hope you take the opportunity to enter the Earth, Wind and Fire theme competition - definitely a worthy contender! |

Hi Ingrid - I tried the image in B&W. The warmth and color of the stone convinced me otherwise. Can't say as I gave the B&W version much of a chance though . . . perhaps when I play with it more after all the discussion is in. I appreciate the input!
Happy 2023! May the new year provide you with many happy memories.

Hi Greg - Thanks for demonstrating your changes. I tried the composition every which way and ultimately thought it was a stronger composition to use both bottom rail followed by the handrail to lead the viewer into the image - at least that was my thinking at the time. Always nice to get a fresh take - thanks.
Happy 2023 - I hope the new year provides you with many happy memories. |
