14 Nov 22 Reply Hi Ingrid - Cropping further to focus in on the main subject is a great idea. I'll play with the image a bit further. Thanks for your "vote" and insight! Nov 20th
14 Nov 22 Reply Hi Xiao - I like your suggestion of cropping to a portrait format and focusing in on a limited number of blooms. Thanks. Nov 20th
14 Nov 22 Reply Hi Tom - Thanks for your vote. I appreciate the kind comments too! Best - Nov 19th
14 Nov 22 Reply Hi Karen - In this case the blurring was helped by a slight wind, which may account for the vertical line you mention - If I've got the right one, I believe the bloom is just folded over. It looks like a copy of the one in front and to the left of it that is in focus. Looks like a clone but I didn't have to do any of that in this photo. Thanks for your insights and suggestions. 14 Nov 22 Comment Hi Kamal - What an interesting capture. The texture created by the water and the symmetrical layout of the boats, their nets and the marine plants (guessing that's what I'm seeing :) create an almost abstract view. I wish I could see some detail in the fishing boats - they're a bit dark. A nice aerial photo. Thanks for educating me on the Haor landscape. Nov 15th
14 Nov 22 Comment Hi Xiao - I think your efforts focusing on making improvements to the lighting were quite successful. I like Tom's suggestion of a crop - leaving the model in the left 1/3 position and cropping out some sky and some of the water on the right might be worth exploring. I believe the vignette works as well. Thanks - Nov 14th
14 Nov 22 Comment Hi Tom - What a wonderful job you've done removing or obscuring wire distractions with smoke and making a busy image less so. I might have cropped more from the left - perhaps just past the pole to remove all that iron - to complete your effort . . . I don't believe it adds anything to the story. It would have been great if that railroad engineer had been looking out at you - maybe remove his arm. The image has nice impact, color, sharpness and exposure which are all to be commended. Thanks for sharing so much about this image. Best - Nov 14th
14 Nov 22 Comment Hi Greg - A brilliantly positioned shot; an amazing memory you've captured. Those were some big boys that were after him so good on him for making the touchdown! The composition, lighting and color balance all highlight your grandson and tell the story quite well. I might have removed the elbow from the right hand edge, I'm confused by the large black spot in back of your grandson's right leg and the lightening of player's legs behind your grandson's left leg might be softened. The amount of vignette used is just right. Sports photography can be daunting to get the action just right and you've done well with a 300mm lens. Nov 13th
14 Nov 22 Reply Hi Tom - I have to agree. I hadn't thought of flipping the image horizontally . . . it does work quite well. I think better than my composition as it leads my eye up and through the image. Nice catch! Nov 13th
14 Nov 22 Comment Hi Ingrid - I love the colors that fall brings. I like that your image is divided into three distinct sections with the center of interest in the mid-ground. My eye is drawn upward by the fence. It's just a nit, but I would prefer that the composition had the fence stopping in the middle of the trees rather than at the top of the treeline. Your image is nicely processed technically and your hello from Michigan is creative and clever. Thanks for sharing - Nov 13th
