Hi Xiao - At the Butterfly Pavillion there wasn't much control over lighting and you're not allowed to use a flash or tripod. Because of how active these little fellows are, I felt fortunate to capture one that had landed with both antenna up and the body framed in a good position. Being semi-transparent added challenges of its own and the unique pattern prevented any opportunity to capture the eyes. It would be helpful if you could share more on your thinking about lighting and color. Best - |

Hi Kamal - What a unique and interesting pose . . . and what flexibility! A great image for advertising photo shoots at PSA's annual conferences too. I like how it all comes together and I find that the model's clothing is complimented nicely by the background - it all just works. Because the image is about the model's body, I don't find it distracting to have her hair covering her face either. After taking images from moving aircraft, it's not surprising that you got such a clear shot in a studio. What a nice opportunity shot!

Hi Xiao - What a nice improvement over the original! I particularly like the impact from the lighting and your attention to detail in processing over the washed out background of the original. Nice job! |

Hi Tom - I think you may have achieved your goal. The color palette, lighting and impact achieved in the post-apocalyptic world you've created works well. If it were mine, I would probably consider cropping about 1/3 to 1/2 of the foreground of sand from the image. Panoramic sizing would not sacrifice the feeling of abandoned vastness and would eliminate some dead space that isn't contributing much to the overall image. I like how you continue to challenge yourself with Photoshop and it shows in the images you manipulate "for a bit of fun". Well done - Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Karen - Sir Winston makes for a cute portrait with a nice story. I once knew a Westie named Mr. BIG that had a similar personality. I like the square aspect ratio and Tom's suggestion for cropping. The frisbee is a good balance to Sir Winston and I like the color . . . to my eye, it is almost too much color though. I find my eyes are drawn immediately to the frisbee. Perhaps playing with the color tone would make a difference. Then there are those eyes - the deep color in contrast with the catch light makes the image. |

Hi Ingrid - You did a wonderful job of integrating the new background and except for your description, I would not have guessed you had altered reality. While the sky is quite interesting, I too would suggest cropping the image from the top for a panoramic image. If you prefer you could take some from the left as well, but pulling down the sky provides an interesting composition on it's own. The greens seem slightly over-saturated on the back hills on my computer . . . but then again, this IS Montana. The lighting works well as does the diagonal created by following the horses into the image. Such beautiful country - nicely done! |

Hi Tom - I'll see if a stronger vignette does the trick. You have a keen eye and I look forward to your support and observations - thank you! |
