Hi Kamal - You were fortunate to be elevated above the rally and have such a unique vantage point of a massive crowd coming together for such a worthy event. In such a colorful and busy scene, it is the masks that provide a nice focal point and place for the viewer's eye to rest. There is also an emotional appeal to the image as a result of the harmony of tones and color throughout. Nice capture - |

Hi Xiao - The first thing that strikes me about this image is the title. It compliments the story your photo portrays quite well and is suitable for either image. My only suggestion might be to crop the shadow on the right side out - I don't believe it's adding anything of interest. I particularly like the dramatic flare and the contrast created through use of the filter, although I agree that there has been some detail lost in the shadows. Even with that, I believe that the impact of the lighting on the model has enhanced the image. Thanks for sharing. |

Hi Tom - What a nice creative solution you've found supporting the story being told. I like your presentation over the original, in particular the use of light to focus in on the hammer is very well done. The vertical line created by the far edge of the temporary wall holding tools seems to stand out more in this image over the original and draws my eye as does the bright area of dust on the right edge of the image that you and Karen discussed. You've done a nice job of downplaying the wrapping on the bottom shelf of the work table although it still feels like it really doesn't belong somehow. You've done well to capture your vision for this image. Thanks for sharing -

Hi Greg - Very creative effort with good impact. I think your idea is sound and your attempt is effective. If I have to pick, I prefer the B&W. In the color version, I'm drawn to all the folks in the background - it's the blue in their cloths and the banner on the building that attracts my attention. There is also something about the B&W that softens the model, makes the image more cohesive and creates a better balance while keeping the focus on the model. That said, I do like Tom's efforts. The photo comes across as one you would find in a travel brochure. The composition works. I wish the model was smiling a bit more . . . I know I would be if I were standing in that location :) Well done! |

Hi Karen - I like your processing choices and composition. The zig-zag of the low wall by the steps and porch banister lead my eye into the window that is framed by the porch. I agree that you lost some detail by darkening the image somewhat - The conversion to B&W and bringing out the texture I think may have been enough to achieve the feel you were after and meet the club challenge. The image's title fits as well! |

Hi Ingrid - What a mood this image creates - the tree and the hawk complement each other nicely. I particularly like how the composition brings all the visual elements of this photo together. Usually hawks have such a menacing look but your capture has the hawk looking inquisitive. Nice job! |

Hi Greg - You're right about it being soft. I tried to smooth things out to avoid noise in the sky and probably took it a smidge too far and thus compromised the sharpness in the process. The texture you added is certainly another way to resolve that issue. I'll spend some more time with the image. Thanks for your input - |
