Hi Syed - A great capture and a really nice job with an iPhone. In particular, I like the leading lines created by the cables and structural beams as well as how the man's outstretched arm mimics the cable as well. The man's position creates some tension and I'm nervous for him just looking at this photograph. I agree that cropping from the bottom and left side would be helpful. Xiao makes a good point about photojournalism (PJ) requirements. His point is certainly true in competition and exhibition circles but within DD even those groups that are specific to PJ allow for manipulation . . . just a clarification. Whether or not you classify this as PJ or not, this is a well done image that hopefully will provide you some very fond memories. |

Hi Ingrid - While you did a great job of darkening the tree trunks, I think it detracts from the overall impact of the image. The mood is created in large part by the mist which appears to have been diminished by the trunk treatment. It is great to have given it a try, but like I said above - the image is beautiful as is. |

Hi Xiao - As usual you did a good job in processing and I like the adjustments made to the flower. You are good at storytelling and always bring some emotion to your images. I am somewhat distracted by the gentleman's trousers though - they make me a bit dizzy. Also, the building in the background is very light and competes with your model - it may help to push it back some - perhaps darken it slightly or add a vignette. But these are nits really. I mostly like that your model appears relaxed which makes for a very nice image overall. |

Hi Tom - This is a really strong image and I particularly like that the colors compliment so well. I feel like there is a lot going on though and might suggest cropping out the foreground to above the umbrellas just at the roof lines to bring even more focus to the windmill. You did a good job of creating the mood and the threatening storm. Nice job - |

Hi Greg - You've done a great job with this portrait. Both the original and the processed image work for me - especially the lighting and the relaxed, authentic feeling you get from your cowboy. There is a bit more contrast and environment in the original and the one submitted is a bit warmer with perhaps better color balance. Both made me smile as I envision the horse wanting more of the spotlight :) |

Hi Karen - What I wouldn't give to have my toes in the sand and see such a sunrise. What a nice composition. Both Xiao and Greg offer good suggestions with focus and the blown out portion of the sky. I have nothing else to add other than the colors you've captured are beautiful! |

Hi Ingrid - I can see why you were drawn to this grove of Aspen. The image is compelling and has that WOW factor created by a strong composition, center of interest, and lighting. The mist creates a nice mood and further enhances an already strong image. I would be interested to see if suggestions of darkening the tree trunks would be worthwhile - an interesting suggestion certainly worth pursuing if you so choose. Personally, I think you've captured a beautiful landscape as is and would love to have such an image in my portfolio. |
