Thanks for taking time to provide input beyond your group. I would love the chance to see them at night myself - perhaps another trip is in order. Thanks again! |

Hi Karen - I agree that the portrait needs to be cropped a bit to eliminate the building sitting on top of Daniel's head and the sky lacks interest. Darkening the background a little may be helpful to add some depth and contrast - it also allows all the focus to be on Daniel. That said, it's a personal preference. Either way, it's a nice image and you've done a good job with the post-processing. |

Thanks Bev. I couldn't agree more about visiting San Francisco. Thanks for taking some time to comment beyond your groups. I should really do more of that myself. |

Hi Xiao - I tried cropping to eliminate the horizontal wires, but I didn't like the look. I agree that there is a bit more distraction from the background than at a lower f stop, but I want to see enough of the background to get the Chinatown feel beyond the lanterns. I'll try it both ways in the future and compare. I appreciate your feedback. |

Thanks Greg - Good point about lantern separation. That may have put me in danger of being run over as I recall . . . a good point nonetheless. |

Congratulations on your continued efforts to photograph street scenes and work with the people you meet along the way. A nice capture of a moment in time. There is a bit of distraction to the right and it would have been better if the focal length had been slightly shorter to blur it down. Perhaps darken the background some with a vignette or use a gradient filter? Great color and a fun image! |

I like both images but the one you worked on in post is the most interesting. The light was nicely captured in the original and you used it to good benefit in the final version. It appears to me that there may be a canvas overlay on the image which is providing texture and creating a mood and the feel of a fine art image which is quite effective. Nice job! |

Hi Xiao - I think that this is my favorite composition that you've submitted. It strikes me as fresh and creative. The angle of the shot has a nice effect. The laptop kind of gets lost and in my mind the image would be strong even without it. Tom has a good catch with the greenish color coming off the model's hair - I hadn't noticed until I read his comments. Once I did though, on my computer, it appears there is a faint greenish cast across the entire image. As always, there is nice emotion and the story is clear. Well done -
