14 Feb 21 Comment Hi Syed - I agree with Greg, Quang and Tom on their comments - pros and cons - except for the idea that this abstract image needs to be symmetrical. I believe the composition works as is. Nice capture. Feb 17th

14 Feb 21 Comment Hi Xiao - What a notable difference by spending time in post processing this image. As others mention, Tom pretty much covered all the points. Thanks for sharing - Feb 5th
14 Feb 21 Comment Hi Tom - What a beautiful sunrise you've captured. The work was in the blending and is well done. There is a leading line in the water that takes me right past the city skyline to the bridge and opera house then up through that stunning sky and back through the skyline to the bright and light. I concur with opening shadows a tad. If you agree with Larry's point about cropping light spots off the top - you could bring up the horizon to center which you might find appealing and would still retain most of that lovely dramatic sky. I like the vantage point; it's really an amazing capture. Feb 5th
14 Feb 21 Comment What a great angle you had! I can only imagine what it takes to get a capture an image such as this but the end result is superb. Keeping the older photo out of the mix and darkening the spotlight in the flooring were both good ideas. Shadows are pretty dark on the face of the bass drum (better in the orig 2) but otherwise the overall tone is spot on. Again, impressive capture. Feb 5th
14 Feb 21 Comment What an interesting challenge! The lighting makes this image which seems a necessity on this type of photograph. The impact is eye-catching. I am curious though - how is the bottle matte?, what is going on with the yellow label, especially on the bottom right? and is a 2020 Shiraz a good year? :) I don't think these questions detract, in fact, I find it draws me into the photograph. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing - Feb 5th
14 Feb 21 Comment Hi Quang - I love the feel of this photograph. While technically sharp, it has an overall vast, wind-swept, softness about it. The composition has a lot to do with this too - I like the juxtaposition of the fencing with the rise of the horizon and that small bit of water that confirms what we already knew. I agree with those who've commented before me about needing some contrast, but to the sky only to create more interest there, although ever so slightly so you don't lose the overall feel. Very nice! 14 Feb 21 Reply Hi John - I appreciate your insight and kind comments. Both suggestions for increased clarity and darkening the white areas are easy fixes and good suggestions. I do like the effect that moving the clarity slider slightly will have but I'm not wild about how dark the background has become overall. Hmmm - I'll see what I can do. Thanks again! Feb 4th
14 Feb 21 Reply Hi Greg - I've always thought that most critters only add to a close up botanical image of this sort, so it's helpful to get your 'vote' in this regard. Thanks - Feb 4th
14 Feb 21 Reply So given there is two critters would you suggest keeping them or taking them out? For me the black one in the flower's cup is rather uninteresting and the other one I think is well placed and more interesting . . . if only it could be seen without a second look. As you are probably aware, I kept them in only because I'm a rather lazy photographer and typically don't alter an image except where really necessary or to satisfy my own interests about an image :) Feb 2nd
14 Feb 21 Reply Hi Tom - Thanks for the input. I hadn't thought the bright area brilliant enough to be that distracting . . . so glad to have the insight. An easy fix. Wonder if you noticed that there are two bugs? Best - Feb 1st
