This is a quiet, tranquil photograph that has an abstract quality to it. I can almost feel the warm from the sun's reflection in the water. There are a couple of light reflections or spots on the lens coming across in the photograph, but otherwise a nice presentation.

I think that you and Tom are right about the need to darken the sky. Bringing out some details on the right is also a good suggestion. I probably didn't help matters with adding a vignette. I'll see what I can do. Thanks Arun. |

Thanks Gregory - I appreciate your very kind comments about the showcase photograph and I'm glad you enjoyed the canyon photo as well. |

Wow! A technical exercise is right! I love the results in this close-up monochrome, in particular the unique vantage point and the texture toward the back of the feather. The feather kind of fades to dark on the front left - some that may bother; I think that adds a bit of an artsy feel to the composition. Nicely done and points for persistence! |

I like the composition with some breathing room in front, the detail and coloring in the feathers and how everything leads to the sharp eye of the pigeon. The background compliments the main subject as well. I think you have met your goal quite nicely . . . again! |

I love the mood and feel of this photograph. I am glad you explained what the fishermen were doing, otherwise I would be wondering what was just out of the shot. Not a bad thing as curiosity about a photograph can add interest and keep you looking. As mentioned, the bird doesn't really add. The fog keeps your eye front and center - on the center of interest. Good job! |

I think you did a great job of enhancing the model and the sculpture she is leaning against. All I think remains is to simplify the photograph by getting rid of anything that detracts from the model. As you suggest, there is something about the position of the model that makes her pose seem unnatural - I believe it may be the position of her feet. If it were my photo I might play around with cropping more - perhaps remove what is assumed to be part of the sculpture on the upper right and from the bottom to just above the higher shoe. Also, consider darkening the background as in the original and if it still shows, delete the line sitting on the model's head. I like the color palette, lighting and the model's expression a lot. |
