14 Mar 20 Reply The top and bottom are as photographed. I got a bit too close to the subject and felt the sides required a bit of cropping on both sides to balance out the photo. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Mar 14th
14 Mar 20 Reply I'm glad you liked the photograph Bill. Thank you for taking the time to post twice! Mar 14th
14 Mar 20 Comment What a powerful photograph; what a story it tells . . . I appreciate that you provided the context through your description of the image. Everyone's suggestions above have merit, especially about brightening. Mar 13th
14 Mar 20 Comment What a great perspective you had for this shot! Last summer I had an opportunity to learn how to get that soft moving water shot in aperture priority. Perhaps consider trying it both ways next time and see which one you find more appealing. I find the out of focus pine on the right is a bit distracting. You can't really go wrong with the Yellowstone landscape, especially since you seem to have a good knack for knowing where to stand! Mar 13th
14 Mar 20 Comment I too think the photo works in B&W. As for cropping I might have also cropped in more on the left to just where the rifle meets the man's leg. I'm also a bit distracted by the hat brim (I think that is what that is) coming out from the main subject's nose. Otherwise, I like the subject and treatment of the photo. Mar 13th
14 Mar 20 Comment The natural lighting focused on the woman lighting candles is wonderful as is the reflection bringing you back to the focal point. I would have had a tough time deciding how best to crop the photo . . . you've done a good job with that too. Color-wise a bit busy - I have no good suggestions for a fix that wouldn't lose that wonderful lighting though. All said, a nice photograph. Mar 13th
14 Mar 20 Reply Will do - Thanks again! Mar 13th
