Arun - You did a good job of capturing everyone's suggestions. Both photographs work for me as well and you make a good case for both. That said, I believe the first one provides a better photograph overall. As much as I like the feel with the full landscape, the focus really isn't there and as mentioned above, I struggle with where to cut off the brush - you provided a good solution. I do think cloning out the cranes was necessary - great catch. Working up the two examples for comparison is helpful! |

I love the colors in this photograph as well. I enjoy the landscape but understand the thinking about focusing on the center of interest by cropping much of it out - it's good feedback. Thanks! |

I'll work on the cropping Syed. I agree - the grass on the bottom should go. Thanks for your input. |

Larry - You make good arguments for how best to enhance this photo through further cropping. I struggle with just where to crop in the brush above the far waterline though - I'll play with it a bit. I appreciate your insight - spot on as usual. |

A great aerial shot. I like your photograph and its composition - it's creative, interesting and effective. Cropping seems to be the theme this month and I agree with the insights and techniques already provided - all good input for consideration. Welcome to Group 14. I look forward to seeing more of your photographs. |

Yvonne - How I envy the view from your home! The story is great and I like what you did with the photograph - monochrome and as a silhouette was a great choice. Everyone agrees about removing some negative space on top. I concur with the cropping Arun did on the sides as it adds to the silhouette, but I can also see Larry's point about removing some trees as it simplifies the scene - so perhaps a matter of preference. If it were mine, I might have left a little more on the bottom for balance and weight. Bottom line - I agree with everyone above that cropping a bit more strategically would enhance an already good photograph. |

What an entertaining beach scene. The interaction between the lady getting a good vacation photo and the guy selling water rafts/toys says it all. Love the colors and the work you did in post processing and in cropping to de-clutter and simplify the image. Composition is good; lighting is a little harsh probably due to the time of day this photograph was taken. Overall, the story and colors are what comes through. |

Arun, I particularly like looking through the archway at the multiple staircases - looking through a structure always draws my interest. The ambient light coming around the corner in the lower half of the photograph also draws me in and I like the repeated pattern of arches as well. I agree with Larry about the divided picture. The light in Istanbul does wonderful things enriching the natural color of the stone or maybe that's just good post-processing - Nice either way! |

A fascinating and creative abstract yet with a little study you know exactly what you're looking at . . . the lighting and composition is just right creating a simple pattern with texture that is a bit mesmerizing - keeping my eye on the design. The small frame around the photo is a nice touch too. I have no critique - beautifully done. |
