Thanks for your comments! And thanks for the suggestion to remove some of the birds - I will definitely experiment with that! |

Look more closely at the image you submitted as the original - if you click on it to enlarge it, you can clearly see that the man's right leg is not bent back like that. Using AI to remove objects, like the car that was parked near the man, can sometimes lead to distortions. |

Thanks Will. Your Fn2 button sounds like a great thing to have. Someday I will set up some Fn buttons that I can then forget to push! |

Interesting! The man in the photo you submitted as the original is sitting in a different position, so that confused me. |

Hi Cindy,
What a lovely tree! It really stands out against the white house and contrasts nicely with the yellow trees in the background and the yellow and green tree in the foreground. Using the f/4 aperture isolates the focus pretty much to the maple - was that your intent? |

Hi Will,
I have been enjoying your architectural minimalism! In this image I particularly like the contrast between the blank upper story windows and the interesting tree reflections in the lower windows, with the mild distortion in the smaller window a particularly attractive detail. Very engaging! I like your idea of a project combining architecture and its interaction with nature. I wish you continued good luck with your trespassing! |

Hi Dale,
You succeeded in giving an old time feel to this image! Nice job removing the pole and other distractions. I appreciate your explanation of your process. I often use NIK Silver Efex, but have never experimented with Color Efex or Detail Extractor, so will have to explore those options. The only change I can suggest is to crop about a quarter or third of the bare foreground from the image. |

Hi Steven,
I like your crop! It really emphasizes the reflection, and the water dripping from the bird's bill gives a sense of motion to the image. It feels like a privilege to watch this bird go about its daily life in such a serene environment, oblivious to outside observation. |

Hi Chan,
I am beyond impressed with the skill you have shown in processing this image and getting rid of distractions. The focus is excellent - I need to look into High Pass Filter in Photoshop! It really did make a difference. One tiny detail I did notice was the distorted leg of the man sitting at a table in front of the building, but that is minor in such a complex image. You might consider adding a bit of sky above the building where it touches the edge of the frame. Your series of downtown Deland sounds like an interesting project! |

Hi Canan,
I've never used a lensbaby, but your image and description have made me consider getting such a lens! I love the glow around the cattails and appreciate your explanation of how difficult it is to achieve a balance between focus and glow. I applaud your perseverance in learning how to use this non-autofocus lens! Your considerable writing skills beautifully describe the balance between joy and challenge that the lensbaby can provide. |

Thank you Cindy! I appreciate your kind comments. And it makes me happy that you saw what I loved about this image. I really did need a higher shutter speed for the birds, but I can almost get away with it at the small size we use on this site. I don't think I would like it as much if I tried printing the photo. But I was delighted to have caught the juxtaposition of the birds and the cliff, and not everything needs to be printed! |
