86 Mar 26 Comment Thanks for the suggestion to check out this image in group 86! The Phone does an amazing job, with a bit of help from the user, of course. And thanks for the explanation about using live and then choosing a "key" frame. Mar 3rd

87 Mar 26 Reply Thank you Cindy! If you one day get to Japan in your travels, you will know to wait for low tide and join the mobs! Mar 7th
87 Mar 26 Reply Yikes! 225 pages is pretty daunting. Mar 3rd

87 Mar 26 Reply That's interesting that your originals look the same to you on your monitor. That must be so frustrating. I hope calibrating the monitor works out. And thank you for posing the question about the banding. I intend to keep checking back to see if any of our other members have suggestions about it since I have had that problem in the past.

Mostly I have been choosing images because I like them and like to share my experiences, but I think your focus on solving problems is a lot more helpful to the group. You have only submitted two images so far, but have stimulated so much discussion! I'm very glad you have joined the group!

87 Mar 26 Reply Thank you, Steven! Looking back at it, I regret not going out on the mud flat to join those people and see what they were seeing up close. Mar 3rd
87 Mar 26 Comment Good for you using in-camera focus stacking! I really need to explore all the interesting things my camera can do, so you are an inspiration.

Very interesting that Will could tell it was stacked! And an interesting suggestion from Steven to check the individual images in the stack. So much to learn.

87 Mar 26 Comment I love your concept of reality as abstract! A very enjoyable image with the different tones and lines. Because it is shown against a black background on this site, it might be nice to have a very fine white stroke around the image so that the dark shape in the lower right gets seen as part of the image. 87 Mar 26 Comment Very nice image of the chipmunk! I agree with the suggestions about the grass (unless you are entering it in a wildlife competition, where that would be forbidden). I was wondering about selecting the animal in lightroom and slightly toning down the green color cast on him. Mar 3rd
87 Mar 26 Comment You certainly achieved your goals! What a great idea for a way to practice action photography - lots of movement, but at least confined to a predictable area, unlike birds. Also a good reminder about ND filters, though you managed to work around it quite well. So, not only an interesting photo, but a good teaching tool for the rest of us! Mar 3rd
87 Mar 26 Comment Great job replacing your background! The flowers are beautifully captured and I like the composition. I am wondering if the lower part of the background could be toned down just a bit. To my eye it distracts a little from the flowers.

I like both B&W versions, but agree with Will that they look slightly blown out. Still beautiful!

87 Mar 26 Comment Hi Canan,

Such a beautiful, sharp macro of the honeybee! Darkening the background works well for this image. I don't see banding in either of your originals, but I do notice that the bee's front feeler(?) shows up much better in them. I especially like original 2. What was your reasoning in choosing the image you feature?

I have occasionally had banding problems, but never found a satisfactory solution. Will's approach sounds interesting and I will try that approach next time that comes up.
