Very nice old-time feel to this image! I've never used the winter preset - interesting how it desaturates the grass while leaving the barn and trees darker. Makes me think I should look at the many presets in Lightroom just to get ideas for my processing! B&W might be interesting, or perhaps monochrome sepia tones to keep the old time feel. |

A gorgeous image - you did a fantastic job of getting it right in the camera! How much time it would save if I could do that consistently. Fabulous job of seeing - thanks for sharing it with us. |

What a glorious sunrise and amazingly cooperative clouds! I like the vibrant colors and the lushness of the landscape. I tend to agree with Chan about cropping off most of the grass. I might even go so far as to crop it all out, but that is just my bias toward wild landscapes speaking. |

Pelicans are such interesting birds - they certainly deserve an annual acknowledgement! Great capture of the mechanics of takeoff - you did a wonderful job of of showing the strength involved in getting airborne. I can feel myself tensing my own muscles in an attempt to boost him into the air. You have great detail in the pelican's feathers, but I understand the frustration of white feathers. I spent quite a bit of time today working on egrets, not always successfully. How nice to live near Ding Darling! I was there several years ago and would love to get back there one of these days. |

Hi Chan,
I'm very impressed with what you have been able to do with a negative from over three decades ago! I really agree that Lightroom is the new darkroom, and Photoshop adds even more. You did a masterful job of improving the lighting, and that was able to emphasize the excellent composition that you saw all those years ago. Thanks for showing us another aspect of photography that we all can explore. |

Hi Canan,
Sorry to be so late with this - I've been out of town a lot recently.
I think it's wonderful how much discussion your image has stimulated! I applaud you for taking on the challenge of still life photography. It scares me enough that I haven't seriously attempted it since an assignment in a photography class five years ago.
I enjoyed the star theme of your image! I like Chan's crop and simplification of your image, but, as he said, there is no right or wrong - you are the total boss. There are a lot of objects in the image, but I think you did a good job of tying them together with your pleasingly simple color pallette. I look forward to seeing more of your images. |

Everyone,
Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I know the photo quality wasn't the best, but it was my favorite overview. I've attached a somewhat better, but not as much of an overview, photo.
