87 Sep 24 Reply Thanks Dale! I'm glad you liked my puffin with fish! It looks even nicer in the cropped version. Sep 7th

87 Sep 24 Comment Pretty little hummer! Amazingly sharp for 1/125 sec. There is a lot of detail in the head and neck, and her eye is sharp with a nice catch-light. You might try a larger aperture and a faster shutter speed if you want to get more of the wings. The white patch (part of the feeder?) in the upper right is so light that it really draws my eye away from the bird. You could crop it out and then perhaps crop a bit off the other side to avoid having the bird appear crowded to the right. Birds don't cooperate very well, so mostly we have to have a lot of patience and a lot of camera cards! Sep 6th
87 Sep 24 Reply Thank you, Lance. The additional cropping does make a big difference! I couldn't let go of the puffin with fish in its mouth, but I did do a square one of just that one. Sep 5th
87 Sep 24 Reply Thank you, Cindy! The water color seems to vary with the weather - some days it was grey and others it was blue or green, depending on depth. But always beautiful.

I did go back and crop even more from the puffin photo and it definitely looks better. I hope you get to see some puffins - Atlantic or Pacific - as they are delightful to watch.

87 Sep 24 Comment Hi Will,

I do find the colors and the curved lines aesthetically pleasing, but not something I would spend a lot of time looking at in an exhibition. It has more coherence than a lot of ICM photos, but I have a bit of aversion to ICM which makes me not the best person to critique such an image.

as to what it is, it looks like a multi-colored knitted cap, but given you worked on it in the summer, that is somewhat unlikely.

87 Sep 24 Comment A lovely subject - simple, but captivating. I like Lance's second edit, or perhaps take a little bit more off the top of it. But there is something to be said for the realism of your crop- it gives a sense of reality and how nature surrounds some of her gems with distractions which we must overcome. Sep 4th
87 Sep 24 Comment Yay for Photo Pills! And for you, for doing the planning and getting up early for this beautiful sunrise! And the weather cooperated! You were well rewarded for your efforts - thanks for sharing. Sep 4th
87 Sep 24 Comment To me, the mistiness of the image gives the viewer a sense of mystery and age. I like it very much. Sep 4th
87 Sep 24 Comment Interesting to see the ice and moving water in juxtaposition. This is my favorite kind of abstract. Sep 4th
87 Sep 24 Comment Have a great trip. Will! Lots to see in Iceland, but these guys were at the top of my list. Good luck! Sep 4th
