Hi Lance! This really evokes a misty, still Florida morning. Almost makes me want to hold my breath and listen to the stillness, if that makes any sense. I especially love the ing sprig that reaches out into the shadows. An image with a lot of impact. |

Although I've been to Israel, I didn't get to see the Jordan River, so thank you for posting this. Your image is so different from what I would have expected - so lush and green. In my mind I saw it cutting through a desert. Your crop helps simplify the image, with much of the focus on the large tree. It would be interesting to me to see a vertical crop that included more of the water and reflections. The light on the tree and rock could be toned down a bit - your original has a more moody, mystical look befitting such an iconic location.

Steven, you captured a very beautiful and interesting image. The pensive facial expression is lovely. The balance between the natural lighting from the window and the studio lighting is handled very well, although you could consider toning down the far left portion of the window. The light colored curtain makes a good backdrop for the elaborate black hat! I love how the model's left hand and arm are positioned - very graceful, and with an interesting reflection. I do find the position of her right arm a bit awkward and distracting. The skin tones are excellent and her lipstick sets off her face perfectly. |

Fabulous job shooting through netting! Such a beautiful bird and you caught the intentness of its gaze. The blue color, perhaps a reflection from the sky, could have been toned down with the blue saturation adjustment in Lightroom, but it may contribute to the wild look of the bird - a matter of personal preference. |

Priorities, we all have our priorities! You captured a very special moment in this game. While I feel for the goalie, I couldn't keep from giggling about the hair fixer. Your image does what a good photo should do - elicit emotion from the viewer. And you manage to invoke a number of emotions! Excellent work. |

Thank you Cindy! We do all interpret things differently, and it is interesting to hear what others think of my images. Since I do photography mainly for myself, I do indulge in some of my attachments. I'm happy when others like what I do, and I appreciate what I learn when others explain what they see and how it impacts them. I'm very happy to belong to this widely varied group of people who generously share their responses. |

Hi Chan, and thank you for your comments and for taking the time to show me an alternative take on this image! I like how you have darkened the clouds at the top, although I really liked the cloud detail at the top in my version. I think the lighter clouds helped emphasize the isolation and relatively limited size of the storm cell, but may well limit the overall impact of the image. I also was attached to some of the cloud detail in the section you cropped. For me, the falling rain was strong enough to bring me back into the photo, but I think that varies with the viewer. I am often torn between what makes a good image and what invokes what I saw and felt when I was making it. |
