Thanks for your comments and I will definitely play with the brightness of the moon! |

The added space at the bottom of the image is great - really helps. |

Cindy, I just realized that in your original image, the candle on the right is just fine - it is the vignette that has darkened it. Perhaps instead of vignette, careful linear gradients all around would work better. |

Cindy, you could try a very long and narrow radial gradient in Lightroom to brighten the candle on the right side. |

I like your crop of the sides, Lance, but I feel like the top is a bit crowded. Perhaps a linear gradient would help darken the distractions at the top while still keeping the space. |

I've never seen an advent wreath - what a lovely holiday tradition! I think your bokeh is excellent, and the whole image has a peaceful feel to it. The only thing I might suggest is trying to tone down the window a little, but it is lovely just as it is. |

Winter birding sounds like a fun class! The crab really makes the image - so interesting to see a feeding behavior. Your sharpening appears very natural, and I like the way the crop includes the other gulls and the sandpipers. |

The vividness of this image is very striking. It has an almost sci-fi feel to it that makes it interesting to a person (like me) who knows nothing about car engines. Thanks for sharing your process - I have Color Efex Pro along with Silver Efex, but have never used it. Another thing to add to my list of things to learn in 2024! |

So amazing how perfectly focused she is, with all those flames around her! And she looks so serene. You captured a fabulous moment with great skill. |

Hi Chan,
Your image is so sharp and shows the textures so well! I love how the basket is reflected in the vase next to it - it really enhances the 3-D effect. I agree that the all-black background and the use of B&W really enhance the image. |

Lance, I love the element of surprise in this image! Like Cindy, I didn't see the fuzzy little guy in the first nanosecond, and then it became clear. In a workshop I took last year, this was referred to as photographic haiku - the little surprise that makes a relatively simple image special. I love it! |

Hi Lance,
I'm confused about your reference to shutter priority. I almost never use shutter priority - I am almost certain I used aperture priority for this image. However, you are absolutely correct about the use of bracketing. I really need to learn to quickly move to bracketing mode in situations that call for it, such as with low light. Thank you for the nudge! I am putting bracketing on my list of photographic techniques to study in 2024. |
