I like both of your smaller aperture shots, but especially this one! The pink dot could be desaturated or removed, but the overall feel is intimate and still painterly. |

Thanks, Steven! I get what you mean about the strap on the ground, and if I print, I will definitely clean up the image. I was considering entering it in the journalism category of my camera club competition, and rules for that category forbid removing anything except by cropping. I never did get around to entering it, so do need to go back and do some cleanup, as I really like the image. |

You are really making progress with birds! I love pelicans and this one is crisply in focus. I also like the version with less tree behind the bird - it is a nice compromise between a boring sky and a distracting background. You did amazingly well with a fairly short lens! Great work! |

I've never used a lens baby, although I have heard of them. A very interesting effect! Your post and the ensuing discussion have been very interesting to me. I am somewhat resistant to using creative techniques - well, very resistant, actually, but I need to push myself into new territory. Beautiful image! Thanks for posting! |

What a beautiful sunrise - so amazing how they can change from day to day! I love the idea of repeated photos from the same window in different seasons. And what a perfect excuse to return to such a beautiful place! |

I strongly prefer the monochrome version. I think it brings attention to the man as a whole. Also, it tones down some of the highlights on his face. I did not notice the lack of catch light in his eyes. The added catchlights have a zombie look to me, and I think it is because I was focusing just on them. It would be interesting to see what someone viewing the photo without knowing they were added later would react.
The portrait is very striking, and you very successfully handled the background to minimize distractions. Shooting models seems like a good way to improve skills needed to shoot people in general. I wonder if you feel that it also might help with street photography. Excellent photo! |

Very interesting image, Chan! And a wonderful photoshop exercise, combining a meaningful story with manipulating images. I have a terrible time with Photoshop, even after several classes. I especially like that the added images are both behind and in front of the clock! I applaud your project as submitted and agree there are changes that could be made, but as you have saved all your layers, you can change whatever you want! |

Hi Lance,
I'm going to have to look at this again when I get home to my desktop computer and big screen! I did figure out it was flipped, but there is still much to explore. I love what you did to compensate for not having a tripod! For now, it appears to me that each image stands alone, but that may change. |
