Hi Cindy,
I can see why you wanted to capture this image - it is an idyllic scene. It is also a very challenging scene and the other comments offer some good suggestions about handling these challenges.
Sorry to hear about your wrist - I hope it heals quickly! |

Hi Will!
I really love this image! The stillness of the autumn woods and the swirling motion of the stream create an interesting, unusual balance. The 10 second exposure worked perfectly - the motion was shown, but the trees are still in focus. Great job! |

Hi Steven!
What an interesting project your club has taken on! Your image really captures the era, and the lighting is perfect - it looks how I imagine 1932 must have looked. Very enjoyable image! |

Hi Lance,
It was interesting to view your image both before and after reading others' comments! Like Steven, I was looking at it very literally at first, thinking about coming and going and wondering how long you had to wait in New York to see so few people on the stairs. Looking back with tension in mind, the first thing that struck me was that the forward leg of the person on the left mostly hid the other leg and I felt a tension of unbalance in that person. Also, the steps struck me as small for the size of people's feet. I also felt a strong sense of movement. An interesting and thought provoking image! |

Also, 20 megapixels rather than 12. |

Hi Steven, and thanks for your comments! The main value I find with the RX 100 is that it shoots raw and zooms to 200mm. I understand that newer iPhones will be able to shoot in raw, but my 11 doesn't. I love it for video, however! I just got back from Churchill, Manitoba, where I got some fun video of two male polar bears sparring. I also took an number of stills so that I could text them to friends and family. For hikes, I generally take both. |

Hi Cindy, and thanks for your kind words! I have the iPhone 11 and it does a pretty decent job, but it doesn't shoot raw, so I tend to use the little Sony RX 100 on hikes. But I love using the phone for video! |

Thank you, Lance! I look forward to participating in the bulletin board discussion and I will certainly support the composition group. I just got back from Canada last night and will probably need a few days to catch up on urgent work, but I will be onto that soon! |

Hi Will,
Thanks for your comments and suggestion! It's always amazing how there are pictures within pictures. Your version certainly gives more emphasis to the ocean. My thought about including the whole tree is that the ocean scene is like an Easter egg, or bonus that one gets by looking carefully at an image. I can see arguments for both versions! |
