87 May 21 Reply Thank you for your comments, Stephen! I hope to do a little experimenting with shadows after seeing what many of the group members have submitted this month. Thanks for taking the time to visit group 87 and contribute to the discussion! May 15th
87 May 21 Comment Hi Cindy, and welcome!

I enjoyed your different take on the concept of shadow. Also, seeing the baby bird in the snow reminds us that birds don't have it easy in this world. I think you have captured a scene that tells a story and I look forward to seeing more of your work!

87 May 21 Comment Hi Will!

I like this image a lot! As others said, my eye first went to the bird's eye - and them the shadow is like an unexpected bonus! For me, it adds to the already beautifully captured image. And thanks for telling us about the rookery!

87 May 21 Comment Hi Steven!

I love the expression of the driver! The photo is technically excellent, and that expression just pushes it over the top to a new level!

87 May 21 Comment Hi Chan,

You certainly stimulated a lot of interesting and informative discussion with your image! It is a lovely image and there are so many way it can be viewed. I liked what our visitor, Stephen Levitas, did with it - he preserved the mysterious dimness of the alley and also toned down the overly bright far end. But I also enjoyed seeing the detail of the alley in your rendition.

87 May 21 Comment Hi Lance,

Although I love the quality of the light and shadow on the wood floor, I lean toward the lamp image. Maybe familiar objects like lamps hold more interest for me than abstract shadows. I like the softness of the shadows in the lamp image - it makes the image more mysterious, and like a peek into someone's life/home. I feel more emotion and story in that image.

87 May 21 Reply Good eye, Steven! The sun is on the right, and there was an identical bench just to the right of this one. The shadow from that bench fits in with the photo, but causes a little confusion due to the other shadows. I thought it was kind of fun! So far, no one else has noticed. May 3rd
87 May 21 Reply Thanks, Cindy, and welcome to the group! Black and White is tricky for me. I'm currently taking an on-line class to try to get better at it, and it does make you see things differently! May 3rd
