I really love both Steven's and Chan's interpretations! My first impression was of a bow shooting an arrow into space, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, I realize, but that's what leaped into my mind! I had a bow, as a child, so maybe that is where it came from. I like it in B&W, but I think it loses, or changes, some of its meaning without the gold and blue color. An interesting image to grow up with! |

Such a lovely old photo! The sepia treatment gives it an old-time feel, although the one piece swimsuit on your father-in-law was already a clue. It was taken from an interesting perspective, farther into the water, and that strikes me as unusual. And the beach was so empty! Such a handsome, happy couple - your mother-in-law must have been thrilled with the scrapbook!

What a wonderful photo and a wonderful story to go with it! I love that it is totally un-posed. You and your sister look so engrossed in your surgical procedure - I can see why your mother treasured it for so many decades, and why you were moved to take a photo of the original so that you could treasure it also. |

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your comments - I appreciate how much thought you put into your suggestions! I just looked at the original and it does not appear especially grainy, so it must be something I did with the photograph. I really like your suggestion about flipping the image horizontally. The horse's head would still be close to the edge, but at least it would be a left to right direction.
I so much look forward to being able to get out and about! Be well! |
