Hi Jo, and welcome to Group 87!
You did accomplish a gritty look. I like the lighting/exposure, especially the way the eyes are emphasized and the contours of the face are highlighted. I find the gun a bit disturbing, but I assume that is part of the intent. It would keep me from putting the photo on my wall, but it is very well done. |

Mike,
Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate you encouragement and I think I will submit it for my club's April competition. |

A beautiful, successful example of focus stacking! Sad to say, I have not mastered that technique yet. I'm so glad you included a shot of your setup. It's hard to believe this is a potted plant photographed indoors. The lighting is perfect and the flowers are exquisitely in focus. they are so delicate and luminous and fresh looking. I love it! |

Hi Chan,
This looks like a fun spring event! Not even 3 weeks of lockdown and I'm already nostalgic. A very cool bike - it really stands out in a crowd. I really like your composition. You have included enough of the other bikes to show how distinctive this particular one is, and also to convey the extent of the event. I can see this on a poster advertising the event! The organizers might want to buy it from you. |

I like your heron - a different type than the ones in California. I like how you captured its intense concentration and stillness - such fun to see! And I like how the water mimics its color and shows how well camouflaged the bird is in its natural environment. |
