Hi Graham,
I love the contrast between the peaceful water and the busy, seemingly industrial, city behind the bridge. It's amazing what 29 seconds can reveal out of the darkness! I might have cut out a bit of the sky, but I like it as is. |

Thank you, Stephen,
It's very nice to have a comment from outside the group. It gives me a better idea how the image will be perceived by people who don't know me. I will stop by group 32 to see what you are doing there! |

Thanks for the tip, Mike. Because of the squareish shape I was afraid to give it the full 1080 pixels in width, but if I limit the file size I guess it will be okay. I'll try that next time. |

I cropped in Lightroom, not in the viewfinder. And I'm assuming Steven downloaded my image and cropped it before reposting it. |

I really like that you asked why I cropped as I did! I do like the crop that you posted - always images within images! And as a stand-alone image, it might be better. But I have been toying with a yin/yang project and I liked the dark/light dynamic in my crop as part of that project. I wanted the light and dark areas to be similar in size, as in the yin/yang symbol. The original had more white trees and white background on the left, which I trimmed off. My photo club is doing a portfolio competition this year - 5 to 7 images - and this is one of three I've worked on so far that I am considering for a yin/yang in nature portfolio. |

The 640 ISO was an accident - I had been using the camera in the early morning and didn't check it before I started in on these trees. Fortunately it didn't ruin the images. |

Hi Mike,
The early morning, pre-sunrise light has a very peaceful feel to it. I really like the subtle colors in the sky and the large, leafless tree. The large cloud and the buildings balance each other nicely. A very pleasing image! |

Hi Steven!
What an elegant image! It has a very modern feel and the color variation is very interesting. The technique seems fairly complex and challenging, but fascinating. I can see how you could get lost in experimentation for hours! |

The photo really evokes the mysterious underwater world where things are not always easy to identify. The leaf is there, but barely, almost lost among the surface ripples and the shimmering light and the mostly obscured shapes of whatever else is down there. A very experiential image, very enjoyable! |
