Wow, the changes to the sky really did make a difference! The power of many minds comes through again. |

Thanks for your kind comments, Mike! And thanks for the suggestion about the shelter. I sometimes (often, actually) get attached to parts of my images because they mean something to me, but forget that other people viewing them just see a distraction. |

Hi Graham, I really like the old-time feel of this image. The monochrome emphasizes that and also brings the viewer's attention to the textures and shapes, which are very pleasing. I agree with Mike about toning down the brightness in the background areas a bit, but I like the brightness in the center where it contrasts with the dark areas around the hub. Very nice! |

Hi Mike, My first response is to be amazed at the depth of field and sharpness of such a long exposure! The people standing by the reflecting pond are totally recognizable as people. I really like the expansiveness of the image with Arlington being so far away, yet so clear. Too bad the moon didn't cooperate, but you certainly found other subjects! I was wondering if your placement of the memorial in the image was deliberate - it is almost centered, but not quite, somewhat distorting the shape of the reflecting pond. But the right side of the pond could be seen as a leading line. I'm trying to learn to be more conscious of things like that, but haven't come to any meaningful conclusions.

Lance, The textures of this scene are really interesting - the mountains look almost lacy with their dusting of snow, and the trees, with their many shades, look dense and alive. Upon looking closely I can see a small amount of detail in the sky, which I wish could be brought out a bit. I agree with Mike that this would be a wonderful large print.
