Good day, Hanna! Yes, I agree, this composition is compelling upon initially viewing. I like your ideas for the dramatic! Very creative!
But the longer I contemplate the work the more it feels ... disruptive or makes me feel uneasy, perhaps, fractured.
More specifically, the way the head is cut off seems awkward in my opinion. Unbalanced, especially with the extra dark space at the bottom within this frame ratio ... would a Square framing bring more balance?
See the attached square frame which 1. helps balance the top with the bottom by eliminating the original black-space at bottom, and 2. I framed it so a little more space is used in the right-side of the frame to help establish "space" instead of a just a symmetrical black square around the subjects head. (though a black square around the head is OK, this is an alternative).
I suggest the Square Frame maintains the dramatic vision the work evokes, but perhaps balances it so the viewer finds more comfort and balance in the work. Look forward to your feedback. Thank you, Hanna.
