Hello.
Yup, I see that shadow - actually, never saw that till now. I never did anything with with photo after initial post production, thus a lack of seeing that barely visible patch.

The new BW image file is much better! So much more detail can be enjoyed, now.
Some observations/suggestions: so I see the sky detail has seemingly disappeared. The difference in the contrast between light and dark seems to be more flat in the BW version. It is possible as you converted to BW this was washed out, but this can be avoided by using color filters in both PSCC and my suggestion, Silver Efex-Pro2. In any case, I really like this composition! We can discuss color filter later this week. I am currently in a Hotel in the TN valley. Talk with you all later. Ciao. |

Yes, another version that shows more of the face - but just a little, in my opinion. Maybe 2 3 inches below the focused eye as an alternative composition. |

Hi Mike.
Really like the Triptych - another great idea that helps work to standout among others.
So you do not have to rely on cloning and other tools to "fix" an image - alternatively, begin visualizing the scene and "Move" the cameras position, if only a foot or two forward, back left and right. In this case you are "bracketing" in a sense, the scene you are trying to capture.
In any case, your post-production work is very fine and the final piece a success. Might look great on Metal. Just a thought.

Hi Jennifer.
Off the bat really like that you worked outside the box, as it were - the unusual crop is refreshing and frankly, something I try to do as well.
The left eye is in perfect focus and as I tell students of photography, if you get the eyes of your subject in focus, you are likely to have a successful photograph in may cases.
Even at F/9.5 the area lite by the sun is still out of focus and I feel it needs to be in focus for a more successful image.
We discussed hyper-focusing (and I have still not presented this focusing dynamic)but this would have helped. In any case, the photograph is a keeper and I would love to see it in BW - as BW is my favorite among photographic renderings.
By Friday I will email a short piece on hyper-focusing to everyone. |

Hi Irene.
First, the file resolution was low and is contributing to the soft image seen here. If you have the hi resolution file, send it to me.
I agree with Jennifer, leading lines help produce this pleasing composition.
Look forward to seeing the hi-res file. Thank you, Irene. |
