Laura: Wow...really like what you have done with this image. Shooting at high shutter speeds and high ISO's in manual mode is a technique I learned at a Canon workshop earlier this year, and it really works. Exposure to the right by adjusting the EV setting can produce consistent, reliable results. Also, the black background makes the picture pop. Jim R |

Sue: very unusual image showing all the veins in the blossom. As an experiment, see what it looks like on a black background in 4X5 aspect ratio with a bit more saturation. Looks like it could glow. |

Jim: wonderful cactus flower image. Clear and crisp. Like how you used black background to remove any distractions. I need to do more of this with my own images. My only suggestion would be to try a little tighter cropping on the right side to remove some negative space. |

Dr. Jim: Thanks for the hint on the sphereize filter. Had not seen it before. My only reservation in this case (besides breaking the rules on nature pictures) is that it seems to lengthen the neck, which is a bit unnatural to me. However, still appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Jim |
