Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
66 Feb 24 Comment Henry, wow, I really like this image. You brought in color masterfully. The contrast of the blue against the fiery orange is absolutely lovely. That we can see through the abandon house justifies the title of this image, but more so, adds depth. My only suggestion, like the others, is to reconsider the windmills in this composition. My eye wants them gone . . . and note I strongly support wind power. Feb 19th
66 Feb 24 Comment Emil, you made some wise and artful decisions to create this very appealing image. I like that you deleted the light fixtures and dodged the one but not both of the trees. Bringing up the shadows on the building decreased the heavy feel of the image. Very nice work. Feb 19th
66 Feb 24 Comment Palli, this is a story, not just an IR image. I like the composition a lot, the highlights on the bicycle and grasses and way it leans on a wall waiting patiently for its rider. Nice work! Feb 19th
66 Feb 24 Comment Gary, you started with a flat, ordinary photo of a cemetery, but then owing to your masterful skills, you converted it to a work of art. Although the dark sky you added is heavy, it sets up the contrast you wanted with the highlighted tombstones, which by the way, pushes this image across the line between being an IR image to that of a work of art. 66 Feb 24 Comment Jack, I've had to deal with hot whites in several images. The challenge is sustaining desirable contrast without burning out the hot sections. It is tricky, but you handled it well. I like Henry's suggestion. Overall, with the highlights, great tonal depth, this is a very accomplished and appealing image. Feb 19th
66 Feb 24 Comment Arik, I like the understated highlights in this image. You have made the overgrowth of trees, bushes and grasses look marvelous. The natural tunnel created by the second-growth trees pulls the viewer into the image and directs them to its intrinsic beauty. Feb 19th
66 Feb 24 Comment Melanie, blind to the comments of others, here are my reactions: putting the child as the subject of this lovely image was masterful. I like how IR rendered her skin tones, like a sculpture carved out of marble. You caught her glancing at the ducks, which pulls elements of this composition together. When I search for a positive constructive suggestion, I can only comment on the heron. It seems too tight to the left frame and draws attention away from the child's focus. But this is minor in relation to such the splendid piece of art you have created. Feb 19th

88 Feb 24 Reply Mark, I have an irrational preference for 16 x 9 formats, but in this case your suggestion for a crop is solid. Consider it done. Thank you. Feb 23rd
88 Feb 24 Reply Trey, thanks for the thoughtful suggestions and comments. Yes, the 8 x 10 has better balance. Dodging would add more depth and interest. I'll give it the good old college try (or should I say, "Trey") Feb 23rd
88 Feb 24 Comment Sanat, this image stages contrasts between warm and cool colors and smooth and crusty textures. I like that you deleted the white sign in the left corner, and would urge you to consider deleting the people and yellow sign as well. The image then rendered would be a simpler, but quite beautiful composition of patterns of color and texture. Feb 19th
88 Feb 24 Comment Brian, this is a powerful image. Certainly one of your best. The decision to use a long shutter speed allowing an F/18 aperture, grave this photograph not only depth of color tonality but also depth of field and the capturing of fantastic details. I really enjoyed this image. Thank you for sharing it. You have got to put this on the wall. Feb 19th
88 Feb 24 Comment Quang Phan, wow, this is one of your images. What a graceful, lovely image. I like the back lighting of the leaves and soft streaks of light. I really enjoyed this truly beautiful image. Feb 19th
88 Feb 24 Comment Mark, such fun! A lot of pop. I lke what the conversion did to create rich tonality in the clouds, and of course, setting up the color contrast with those chairs. I really enjoyed this photograph. Feb 19th
88 Feb 24 Comment Trey, you are a master at converting a nice image into a great one. I like how you cropped this image and how you brought out the colors but retained the misty look. Keeping the shed in the lower right adds a lot of interest. Great composition! Feb 19th
