Emil, the difference between the original and the finished image is striking. Extracting details in the rock structure and sharpening the foreground increased the power of this image. Would increasing the contrast in the sky add even more "pop"? |

Palli, I like what you have done to make this a very interesting image: Increasing clarity and contrast, then using a filter to not only warm the image, but also, authenticate the sandstone. Nice work! |

Gary, with all that AI can do to rescue older photos in our libraries, there is suddenly a lot of opportunity to create some fine images such as the one you shared this month. I've got to learn how to do this stuff. Thanks, once again, for the inspiration |

Jack, until you pointed it out, I did not notice the blur. The strong leading lines draw the viewer quickly into the image. Pushing the contrast made an already interesting image all the more intriguing. |

Arik, this image has a street fair feel, albeit in IR. You were brave taking the photo so close to the grumpy guy with the pool stick. My eye delightfully wanders between the grumpy guy and the pedestrians. Cropping out the women on the right and deleting the sign improved the composition. |

This is another powerful image Melanie. The contrast between the barbwire on the post with the soft, very human, little boy is a story frozen at 1/400th of a second. Some portrait purists would suggest lightening the left eye of the child to gain even more impact. |

I am amazed how you pulled such beautiful color from the original image. In the days of film images, unless you had expensive development equipment, this would have been impossible. The mist and fog you captured creates a peaceful mood. Again, excellent work. Thank you for the example of it and sharing the process that made it. |

Trey, thank you for the kind comments and constructive questions. I really like the idea of cropping out some of the lake at the bottom. I considered darkening the fishermen, but chose to reveal details that established they were Amish. A darker silhouette, however, does increase impact. Overall, I can see why exploring "tension" is a good tool for composition.
Have a pleasant holiday Trey. |

I like your suggestion. Having similar texture in the sky and water draws more attention to the fishermen. |
