Palli, this ship is indeed a night ship, a kind of ghost ship. I like the steel blue cast in the image and how you emphasized the white in the ship (the porthole effect). Removing the small boat at the bow of the ship was a good choice. It's a matter of minor compositional taste, but I might have also eliminated the white trail from an earlier small boat that apparently passed by the three in the foreground so as to render the ship the only thing in motion. |

Gary, perhaps it is the x-Catholic in me, but my first impression was that this is an image of a crucifix, a huge impactful crucifix. I like what you did to deepen the black in the sky and lightening the contrail of the jet. And you have shown us that an image taken in 2015 has relevance in 2021 . .. when skill and TLC is applied in its processing. |

Jack, you have capatured such a private, intimate scene. It declares and reveals what is important, even sacred, to its mysterious, unknown owner. I like the sepia tone and especially the use of window light. You have made what is a scene, a piece of art, your art. Thank you. |

This image invites you to drift into a perfect fantasy land of beauty, peace and grace. It's lovely. I like the pink tones you brought out in the trees and the blue in sky that matches the reflection in the canal. The canal itself provided a compelling compositional element directing the eye of the lucky viewer. Thank you for sharing. |

Emil, I like the backstory on this image. I live near the mighty Allegany River and wonder why folks take risks to live in flood zones. Bringing out the details in the shadows, particularly in the stone foundation, adds interest and impact. The "drama" Gary suggests is an intriguing addition.

Thank you Gary for spotting the banding. I find myself using sky replacement more frequently and should do it as technically well as it can be done. |

Melanie, first, I admire that you captured this lovely image without animals in it. There are always lovely "secondary" images to capture when the primary one is less available, if you have the artistic talent to see them. I like the shades of blue in the first version. What is the resolution in your SONY? |

Yes Palli, the mountains are dark and hard. I like what you did to soften the shadows. I will have to work on avoiding banding. Thank you for the suggestions and comments. |

Sorry John for not getting your name straight. I'll blame it on being old and working on something before the first cup of coffee. |

Rich, I have friends who say winter is great in Iceland because of the Northern Lights, but it is windy, dark and cold then. Summer, in my opinion, is better. It is dark only 3 to 4 hours a day and the golden light of sunset and sunrise lasts hours, not minutes. Early summer or early fall is good and you avoid tourists and prime time costs. Photograph the popular hot spots, but if you rent a F4 capable car, on dirt roads you can go into very remote areas to get that special landscape image. |

Sanat, this image has impact because of its complexity and energy expressed by numerous birds and animals. The viewer can spend many enjoyable moments scanning all the activity you captured. I like what you did to decrease the haze and bring out the sky. Cropping it did indeed draw more attention to the birds. Thank you for sharing this image and the story behind it. |

Louis, I have found the Milky Way to be difficult to photograph. You need to have a cloudless sky, no moon, and low humidity. Then it takes skill to select the right ISO, lens, aperture and shutter speed. You were spot on with all these requirements. I am particularly impressed with the steadiness of the model and I very much like how you added a prop and used the horizon to increase the impact of the image. Thank you for sharing this splendid image. |

Trey, your skills in post processing are quite evident in this image. You took a simple, but well composed image, to another level. I like what you did to the sky, wow, such an interesting beautiful sky. Enhancing the shadows in the woods and corn completed the image. Thank you for finding such beauty in an ordinary scene. This is a profound lesson more photographers need to learn. |

Quang Phan, what an interesting subject for a photograph. It is amazing that this bridge was made for bicyclists, walkers and runners. I like how you used noon lighting, a time of day when the light is usually too harsh. That you kept the sky plain with soft colors allows the viewer to concentrate more on the people using the bridge. Waiting for space between you and the bridge's users made the bridge a more powerful leading line. High marks! |

Rich, I like the way you composed this image. The viewer easily imagines themselves in the water rushing to shore. Flipping it enhanced this effect. The image has impact and energy because of the mix of soft mist with ragging water and jagged rocks. The backlighting reveals these contrasts. Thank you for retrieving and sharing this splendid image. |

John, this is a classic seaside image. You did a lot of work translating it from the original. The crop gave it more impact and bringing out the colors added interest and beauty. The birds are a believable welcomed addition to the composition. When you boosted the structure, working with a high ISO, you may have also increased the grain in the sky. Most AI programs can reduce grain, and even new versions of Camera Raw in PS 2021 can help a lot. |

John, the weather in Iceland can be very dreary, cloudy and misty, lacking all color. That was the case here. The original I posted is in color, believe it or not. Nonetheless, I converted it to B&W to work on the tonality and subtle details in the shadows. Thank you for the kind words.

Thank you for the kind comments. My artistic sense immediately locked on to this scene. Others in my group were scrambling to take photos of those cute and photogenic Puffins. By the time I got to their nesting site, they were gone. No regrets. |
