Gary, thank you for returning to traditional IR-ready dilapidated barns. They are so interesting, and like you, they are in abundance were I live in Western New York State. I like the way you lightened up the grass in the foreground and brightened the clouds so as to draw more attention to the barn. The barns in my area seem to need a prop or two. I have consider hiring a model to add interest and life to these story-rich structures lost in time. |

Arik, allowing the blue tones in the water makes this image. Natural scenes can be so complex, but you converted that potentially distracting complexity into a hazy, foggy context for the pond. I did not notice the blue staining on the banks. |

Jack, the umbrellas make this scene interesting. I would not worry about the potential distraction of the foreground. Adding patterns of light and shadow in the umbrellas further increases their interest value. Like it a lot. |

Yes, a tad bit more contrast does increase dynamic and range and reduces flatness. Thank you Melanie. |

Thank you Emil for the supportive comments. I took the walk to distract myself from worrying about my wife being diagnosed for a hip replacement. The camera added even more distraction. |

I like the increase contrast. It does pull the eye of the viewer more to the middle and creates an interesting increase in dynamic range. Thanks. |

Good timing to take this shot Rich. I can see why you converted it to black & white. The big shadow then became more salient. Lightening the little shadows added to this effect. I noticed some thin blue lines on some of the buildings, which is OK if you intended it (a caveat to this comment concerns my hard to calibrate monitor, which could be causing this effect). |

Louis Lo, I really like the concept driving this splendid image: the hot sun opposed by the cool moon. Bringing out the yellows on left side while deepening the blues accentuated the effect you sought. You handled the slightly overexposed sun quite well. Thanks for removing the distracting junk and clutter. If you have a larger moon in your files, that you could copy and paste, that might add more impact. |

Yes, I agree about the bridge. The sky is a bit too powerful. I have considered opening the iron work on the right to render more symmetry. BTW, I took the shot from the bow of a tour boat (like the scene in the movie The Titanic). |

Thank you Gary for the kind comments. Illuminating the buildings in the left-center does pull the eye there and helps to prevent the sky from dominating. Gary, I hope you are enjoying your new position. |
