Ernie, you are a master sky photography. The thin hazy clouds make this image. It is sharp and has great depth of field. You must have used a tripod? This is more of question than a critique, but what would the image look like if the top of the car on the center-right side was removed and the image cropped a bit on that side? |

Emil, this is a perfect composition. The fence line, dirt road and highlights in the field draw the viewer into this scene. Perfect as it is, I like Palli's adjustments too. |

I like the first colorized IR image. The lighter tones contrast nicely with the saturated cyans. Keep tinkering. Share your insights. |

Gary, what I like about your adjustments is that now the tone is more uniform. Upon reflection, if I truly wanted to use the colors more in the original version, I should have done things to bring them out more, e.g., the olive toned greens. |

Trees are both creepy and magnificent. Your photo captures this dualism well. The hazy border adds an interesting mysterious creepy feel that the moss amplifies. Dark pockets, while necessary, make the eye work to create an integrated composition. There may be too many of them? |

Palli the viewer is drawn to the sunbather. She is not looking at the sea nor the foliage in front of her. She is drinking in the sun and feeling its warmth. This is a lovely composition about mood and moment. |

This image captures how dreamy summer places can be. It reminds me of cottages at Key West. Your work on localized contrasts is evident. This must have taken some time and work to accomplish. Although the image is complex, the fence pulls things together; however, the left side of the image seems pinched to my eye. |

Welcome to color! I can see you are already having some fun. Although unnatural and a bit surreal, the colorized version of your photo is a lot more interesting. The contrast of the cyan saturated sky with the sepia toned tree is pleasing. For more tinkering, I urge you to try using the select color menu and a color adjustment layer to fine tune the image. Color channel switching is just the beginning! |

Trey, you are to photography what Stevan Dohanos was to illustrating American life. Your images are nostalgic recollections of a simpler time. Saturating the colors and increasing the contrast does this. And you always include an American Flag or two. Great skill in removing the people and repairing the crack in the pavement. |

Getting reflections of the core of the Milky Way, I have found, is quite difficult. What a grand place to capture this effect. While the trees in the foreground frame the image, their inclination, upon a second look, seems unnatural. On the other hand, they are needed to keep the image from becoming too flat. A very cosmic image. |

I agree. The rock doesn't rock. |

I agree about the cropping. Other variations of this image include the whole rock. It is paradoxically too big and attention drawing because of the cropping. Thanks for the comment. |

Lou, the f/16 aperture and 22mm lens created the depth of field you needed for this complex image, which you composed nicely. I agree with the other comments about the distant hills and especially the clouds & sky. While the fence in the foreground is essential, with changes in the sky, it would be less dominate. All-in-all, this is a minor consideration. |

Sumit this is one of the best images you have shared with this group. It is a splendid landscape image processed well but not overly so. In the evaluation of photographs I argued without success for the inclusion of work and effort as one of the criteria of excellence. Your photo is a case in point. |

I owned a Minolta 101 last time I was in Acadia. This image says "return". Unlike other commentators, I am not that troubled with the clouds in the upper left corner. I like the peaceful warmth they add. You have inspired me to try merging images in high contrast situations . . . which you have done masterfully. The soft pastel colors in the distance contribute much to the composition. The only tweak I would do is to slightly desaturate the blue tones in rocky cliff on the lower left of the image. Some rocks seem too blue. |

This is a very pleasing image. Your choice to leave the sky as is was a good one. This is an image of serenity. The contrast of the warm morning light against the cool blue of the lake strengthens this image. There only a couple things you might consider changing: The small tip of a mountain in the upper left of the image might be removed and perhaps contrast could be raised a notch to draw the eyes even more to the mountain range in the distance. |
