I took all your suggestions and made some changes. I don't have Topaz, Michael, but I applied a light Gaussian blur to the sky and then masked all the cloud edges back in. I also applied a horizontal transform to the sky, so the lighting on the clouds more closely matches the lighting on the castle. I found a fairly easy way to eliminate the halo, but as you said Larry, it would be nice if the tool didn't create it in the first place. |

Nice image of a dry riverbed and quite powerful. I agree with the others that the stumps in the foreground get a little lost. They are actually more visible in the color originals. Perhaps a black and white treatment of this image is partly to blame. I do have a question, you have 3 images, so was this an HDR treatment? |

I really like the composition of this image. The stream creates a nice subject and creates a leading line into the mountains. I do like your second treatment better. I thought the first one was a little to warm. |

Great image! I really love the tone of the mountains, particularly the magenta at the bottom. I agree with the others about darkening the foreground boulders. |

Really good shot of the Milky Way! I've been experimenting with doing this myself, but there is too much light pollution where I live. You exposure settings are pretty close to what I found was best to get what stars I could without the start of star trails forming. I think the B&W treatment is a real improvement over the original as well. I do like the lighting effect on the pilings as well. |

Yeah I did notice the noise, and the halo. The sky is at 300, but is a little stretched so that might by the issue. I did apply a slight Gaussian blur to it but it is still noticeable. I did use Camera Raw to adjust the sky, so that could be the issue. There are some settings on the sky replacement in the new PS that seem to control the halo, but it seems mainly by blurring the mask, which makes a giant blurry light area around the castle, so I need to fool around with it some more. Thanks for the notes, Larry! |
