I'm not sure how I feel about replacing the sky on this image. It has a calm mood and the sky and lighting you captured add to that mood. It is actually a good image the way it is and I'm not sure I would change it. You could try a experimenting pano crop to see if that improves it, maybe an inch or so off the top and bottom. |

I really like the reflection of the mountains in the lake, and to me that seems like the main subject of the image. What about a pano crop, which takes out most of the rock on the right which is over exposed. Here is an example of what I was thinking. I applied a light dehaze as well and darkened what was left of the rock on the right after cropping, so it does not draw your eye as much. What do you think? |

This image definitely hearkens back to a time of authoritarian rule and captures that mood. I definitely would keep the dark lighting, it makes the image more menacing. The only thing I might change is to sharpen the cranes a little, In particular the cab, which is corrugated steel and seems a little soft to me. |

Thanks for all your suggestions. Larry, I actually did try a pano crop, but I liked this one better. |

A nice moody image. I love the clouds and the lighting in the center of the landscape. I wouldn't change a thing. |

A nice image that really captures the mood you were looking to create. I agree with the others, darkening the image would give the image even more drama. I think I would darken the environment and cabin, but not the light coming from it. You could also try selectively applying a cooling filter to simulate late evening in the blue hour. I really love how you did the lighting and it really achieves a cool effect. Also I like the light on the chimney stones, it adds to the mood, even if not strictly accurate. |

Wow, that's a really cool image. I love it. I did not notice the green triangle until others mentioned it. As Larry demonstrated it is easily removed. You could either do that, or if you are entering it in a reality based competition, you could darken it or crop it. I would probably not do as heavy a crop as you did, but would just crop at the point where the triangle ends. Really nice image! |
