Wow, you do ask some interesting questions. In my opinion, you have an excellent high key candidate. To my eye you have preserved quite a bit of color and detail. You absolutely do not ALWAYS finish like Art and I did. Ours, lacking color, pretty well demand darker shades of black and brighter whites. But even that is subjective. |

Marge, I'll take your questions one at a time.
1. All images are processed either in camera or in post or both. I just assumed there had been some post processing. If not, good for you. I look at an image as a final product of the artist. Less work is a bonus.
2. I didn't even notice Art's was like mine until I hit "submit". I work with my system (computer, software and eyeballs) to get the look I want. I couldn't even begin to tell you everything I did, undid and redid to get my look.
3. I rarely ever deliberately shoot for a high-key image straight out of camera. If I miss, the shot is basically lost. So I will shoot for proper exposure (with some exceptions) with my eye on good contrasting candidates for a high-key post process. That's not to say I never do that. There are cases where I've picked up on the opportunity. In my opinion you need to really plan ahead for a good high key project unless you're in studio.
4. What you "need" to do is what you have to, to get the look you want. What Art and I did was to offer alternative visions, not replacements. The one vision that counts is yours. In my opinion, you have a good one. |

I like photography that comes from artists who see the world differently. I think you did a great job on this image. So many would have walked past this puddle and never realized the possibilities. I really like the monochrome treatment. Very nice.

I am always eager to see your contribution and you didn't disappoint. I like how you processed it and I like Art's crop. I'm always looking for a good candidate for a "high-key" prospect. So, here it is. Thanks for the inspiration. Well done. |

I have to say I'm getting to where I'm not surprised to see you take a rather mondain image and turn it into a work of art. I think this is a really nice action shot with a nice balance. I really like the blue separating the two parts of the image. Nice.

My apologies to everyone for these late comments. The truth is I've been in a bit of a creative funk and the words just aren't coming. I like the imagination and how you verified one of my tenants of good photography; Good photography takes imagination and courage. I like your capture of textures and pattern as well as the subtle complimenting colors. In my opinion, a really nice abstract candidate. Well done. |
