For me this image was a real challenge. In my opinion the statue is the subject. And yet the background kept drawing me in. So I had to decide which I would emphasize. As you can see, I went with the statue and I used the trees to frame the subject. I can't disagree with either Art or Gabriele. Their reasoning is both sound and logical. Rather than just agree, I tried experimenting. I'm still not sure if I did your image justice. |

I agree with Art's vision. The one distraction for me was the bright steam in the upper left. By brightening the whole steam cloud my eyes are drawn into the image and the flow is more natural. I think you have a very iconic image of one of the most photographed geysers in Yellowstone. |

I think Art nailed it about which is the original. I like your approach to the post processing. Art and I both went with monotone. I am always looking for situations like this with great lines and lots of contrast. In my case I went with a high-key style. In my opinion high-key is a strong candidate to highlight angles and contrast. I did all my adjustments in Lightroom CC. I also used "transform" to square up the edges. I think this is a really interesting image treated well. |

I really like the contrast of the vertical lines and the horizontal colors. To me there is an implied texture that is pleasing to my eyes. I think this would make a remarkable print on the wall of a corporate lobby or hotel. Just so artistic. Well done. |

I like your style. It's not always what I would think of but it certainly keeps my idea bag full. Thank you for sharing your unique vision and creativity. |

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was the kind of suggestion I hoped for and appreciate when I joined the Digital Dialogue. Every member of this "group" makes me a better photographer. I really think the "general" category fits my needs so much because it keeps the creative juices all mixed up. |
