I liked the potential of this seascape. In my opinion you captured the beauty and mystery of the sea. I like that you left some sea grass to anchor the rest of the image. It did need to be leveled. I played around with the original to suite my eye but that is just me. I started by reducing the highlights. I boosted contrast and added a radial filter to soften the glare. I took it into Luminar AI and added some subtle rays and accented the sky. Back in Lightroom I added a vignette and reduced the orange and yellow saturation. To my eye the yellow glow of the clouds was excessive. All of this was more of an experiment than a statement of need. Finally, I cropped to a 9 x 16. It was a really nice image. Thank you for sharing. |

After working with the original without referencing your final edit, I really like what you did in post. Nothing I did made a better picture but I do approach my work flow with a different eye and isn't that what this is all about. First thing I did was reduce the highlights, This restored some detail and encouraged me to boost contrast and blue saturation in the HSL panel. I also kept the shadow layering of the mountains and slightly boosted dehaze (not very much). I then used the brush tool to lighten the rocks and water in the foreground. I was trying to get the rocks to guide my eyes up and into the image. I also slightly cooled the whole image. I only selectively reduced shadows in the rocks and pool. Overall, I really think this is a definite wall hanger and I thank you for allowing us to work it. Love the mood and use of lighting. Not bad for an image you were going to delete. |

I anticipated your image and you didn't disappoint. A very nice action shot. In my opinion you captured the iconic surfer image. I think your timing was spot on and technically you nailed it. To me your focus is flawless and the exposure is appropriate. I do like what Gabriele did with the ocean color. Just food for thought: You can significantly boost the drama by getting lower and catching the surfer above the horizon. This would make a nice poster for a surfer's home. Nice job. |

Ok Art, I'm going to start with a simple, but emphatic...WOW. I love this. I think the colors and the sense of motion are wonderful. In my opinion this is what ICM is all about. In fact, I like it so much I'm going to put it on my desktop for a while just so I can start my day with it. Whatever you did in post is just what it needed. Thank you for sharing. |

I think you did your passion justice with this image. The one place I am constantly critiquing myself is that I forget I have a camera in my phone. To me this is a wonderfully beautiful example of how a phone camera can capture the beauty of the world on a budget. To my eyes it is sharp an I like the end result considering your stated intentions. For me there is just enough land to anchor the clouds and give context to the sky. The colors are amazing. Well done. |
