I agree with Dick here. I like the flip, and all the colors, but I feel I want to see more of the entire flower. As cropped or shot here, the center of the flower seems to be what the eye goes to, but the petals are actually more beautiful in my opinion and I would have liked to see more of them. |

Nice, sharp photo. I love the composition. The background is very effective, especially for the reflections. The decor on the cards works well with the yellow dice. |

Interesting photo -- quite a challenge. Great discussion, too. Wish I could understand more of it, but maybe I'll get there some day! |

What tools did you use to darken the background? |

I agree that the background was a bit distracting and that this is much better. But wow, what a shot! It did take me a long time to figure out what I was looking at, and I might not have figured it out without the explanation. But it is a rare moment and certainly worthy of capture. |

Ha ha -- really? I looked it up on wikipedia and it was a flower. So if it's made into a tea, congrats to you for figuring it out!!!
As for the rest of the discussion, I would agree it's sharp, but the rest of the exchange is way over my head! Thanks guys -- I'll record in hopes of someday understanding!!!! |

I shoot in raw - - as I've been taught. Are you saying I shouldn't? |

As for a ground shot -- 1) I'm still recovering from 3 x broken ankles and 2X broken shoulder and getting to the ground and up would have been very painful; 2) He would have run away long before I got there. |

It was on a asphalt walkway in the park, and I was walking and caught it. |

I realize it is cropped too tight. I cropped it with room around the head and tail, but the photo size was too big. So I made it smaller, not realizing it would crop as it did.
Sorry -- it was fine before! And yes about the surface -- but lizards don't often pose on surfaces that don't match them. |

I was on the first floor of rooms, just starting into the hallway that led to our room. |

I see the girl. I love the shadow, which is delicate and youthfully feminine. I also love the texture on the leaves. |

What a remarkable tree! I think this is beautiful and a very rare find. I love the orange and all the squiggly trunks. My only suggestion would be to have tried to get the entire tree in the frame -- but maybe there was some good reason not to do that. |

I have used blur photos too, and I find this one particularly effective. Actually, it makes me a bit afraid of what's coming. |

The architecture is the subject. That's why I let the trees be in the middle - which I don't usually do on my subjects -- i.e., put them in the middle. |

Note I am in the macro group as well as this one -- so there I have done some work to keep the background on flowers in focus. However, I'm not sure it's at all always the right way to go. |

This is gorgeous! I love the frost on the tips of the leaves and on the stamen (or whatever they are) in the center -- so clear and crisp! Happens to be a color I love, too.
The leaves in the background are a little fuzzy. That is kind of a matter of taste, I think. I raise the question to others -- when you have a subject like a flower with leaves, do you think the leaves should be blurred or clear? |
