I think the rule of thirds is a bit extreme. Golden ratio is better. But I like that you placed this near where it might be with them, but not exactly. I think it's just the right placement. |

Wonderful photo -- looks very alive! I agree with the crop. Love the clarity of the spikey hairs and bristles! Maybe I would have liked to see the full view of the side legs included -- or were they perhaps broken off or damaged? I'm glad we don't have any of those fellows in my neck of the woods. Black widows are enough to worry about! |

Here's a question for the group: What do you think of the rule of thirds? To me it seems a bit extreme, but I will confess it entered my head when I cropped here. |

Fabulous, as always, Dick! I agree about the DOF and colors. I find myself studying the little "hairs" on them and their color, too. In particular, I like the composition which has the hole of one of them placed slightly off center. The eye is drawn there.
Great work! |

Hey, Salvador!
Great, terrifically crisp photo. I've enjoyed studying the gradations in color and texture of the nuts and leaves in their various positions. I agree the shadow adds interest and could be darkened. I do feel, however, that the white background is a little stark. I wonder what a very, very light color -- as yellow/tan, perhaps -- would look like? If the photo were mine, I would play around with changing the background color and just look. Did you? |

Very intriguing, I agree. I love the monochrome and the textures on the bricks. It's fun to wonder what the story here was. I find myself toying with whether positioning the shoes elsewhere so the story was suggested (as above a Dam or reservoir or steep mountainside) would make for a stronger or a weaker photo. Part of the fun is not knowing the story, though! |

I am astounded by this photo. Looking at it in the round, I was sure it was a photo of a painting. Now I am just breathless and in awe of what you accomplished! |

The "original" was just to show what the true subject was. They were separate photos with different settings. The true original blurred shot was overexposed, so I darkened it and added saturation and colors like the true subject using LR. |

A great photo, well edited - but I don't know what to think of the line that comes on the left down the center of the gull and on the right, to the bottom of the wave? It seems too straightly chiseled to be rain. If you did it in editing, I would take it out. |

You are quite right to point out the spot. I don't know what it is. |
