75 Nov 20 Reply Thank you, David. Intentional blurs tend to be naturally low in constrast so that always has to be dealt with. This stand of trees were near where I was camping, but it was't until dusk when the sun was just right that I really "saw" the shapes and colors. Nov 14th
75 Nov 20 Reply I've had them in my yard and once my horse was spooked by one, almost thru me off right onto the snake. Last year I took my dogs to rattlesnake avoidance training and it was very informative. Hopefully my dogs will know to steer clear of them. They are a part of nature so have a place in the ecosystem, but I don't want to have one in my yard or meet up with one on the trail (that's also happened). Nov 13th

75 Nov 20 Comment What a gorgeous bird! I think this is a nice portrait and the feather detail is just exquisite. You also did a great job with processing his eyes which are just arresting. The tones on the back of the owl are close to the tones and texture in the background, and I'm wondering if you lightened up his back if he would stand out more? I see that you have tried to de-emphazise the background but I still think it's a bit of a distraction and competes with the bird. Nov 12th
75 Nov 20 Comment I think the tone of the light is nice. I like the sharpness on the foreground petals and the shape of the flower. What doesn't make sense to me is that the brightest part of the image is the center of the flower, but that is out of focus. I'm wondering in your focus stack images if you have one that has the center of the flower sharp? I think the shapes on the foreground petals are lovely but this part of the flower is in shadow. It might help to put a diffuser on the light so that it lights the flower more evenly and has less of a spotlight effect. Nov 12th
75 Nov 20 Comment Wow, I think you nailed this exposure, DoF and shutter speed. The snake is sharp and nicely lit. Great detail on the scales but what makes this image is that you got him coming into the frame, appearing to look toward you- creepy. (I'm not a lover of rattlers) Your crop if spot on and nice how you got him to frame himself with the leaves. I wouldn't change anything. Nov 12th
