Thank you, Kerry. It does take me back to a nice day. Little did I know while I was way up in the Sierras on this trip that the fires had started in CA. |

I agree that the bird isn't much sharper with the Topaz. I think your before and after images give you a good idea of how Topaz works. |

Thank you for your comments, Walter. I can always depend on you to notice small but important details. I'll fix those for sure. |

Thank you for your comments. I've been on a fall photography trip & haven't had cell service for 3 days so am just getting to read this. I was lucky to be there when I was as when I came out & started getting phone messages I found out about the fires in CA & that was the last good air we had for 6 weeks. |

You caught the perfect colored bird for that clear, intensely blue sky. I like the diagonal composition and think that your DoF and shutter speed were appropriate. In terms of processing, at least on my monitor, the underside of the left wing is very dark and I'm thinking would show off the colors of the bird if that shadow was decreased. |

Well, just wow!! I really love these complimentary, stratified images of the mountains and sky. I think you did an excellent job of differentiating the layers of mountains. I love the subtle tonal changes in the sky and how the intense blues give way to the subtle purples. |

The colors in your background are gorgeous though they do seem to overtake the bird. Good for you for capturing a hummer in flight. Unfortunately, I don't see anything on the bird that is in focus and relative to the background, the bird is darker and less colorful. I don't know if you were on a tripod or not. With my camera, I need to be above 1/1000s to get an image of a hummer that's in focus. I think your DoF was good, but you could go up on your ISO and increase your shutter speed. |

I have never seen such a detailed image of a cicada, nor did I realize how beautiful there are. That gold on them almost shimmers. I think you did a good job with your settings although even the head & eye appear to be a bit soft when you look closely. The only issue I have is that I wish the tail was more in focus and I wish there was something to be done about that triangular shadow on the right. That said, I still really enjoy the detail on this bug. |
