I appreciate your comments, Kerry. That's kind of what I thought the birds must be thinking. But it is unconventional so I'm interested in how it "lands" in people. |

I'm glad that you find my comments useful. I try to really look at an image and find things that I hope the photographer will find helpful. I still really like the way the cows stepped into the light, even if they are a bit soft. |

The crop is one of the reasons I chose this image for this month as I wondered how people would react to this unconventional portrayal. I also had mixed feelings but I think the nature story is good. I call this a "point and shoot" moment. I was watching another bird group and then this action happened. My lens was out to 600mm and all I had time for was to turn around and hit the shutter. Unfortunately, the "thief" was flying toward me so by the time I got my focal length down, it was over. I thought the expression on the back bird was all that was important as far as he was concerned and I did like the prominence of the thiefs face and the fish in his claw. To me the two faces and the fish in the claw were the story. But, then it is not a conventional image so I wondered what people would think. |

It is always so wonderful to see this first buds in the springtime. I love the color in this bud though on my monitor it is a bit soft so I'm not able to see the detail. Also, my eye goes to the bright spot to the right of the bud. It is much brighter than the bud so competes with it. I did a crop of the image which eliminates much of the bright spot and also some of the top and bottom, which, in my opinion, aren't the subject of the image. |

I like this peaceful scene with the strolling cows and the beautiful fall trees in the background. When I first looked at this, I thought it was double exposure because of the rock in the background left with the tree growing out of it. There is something interesting there about the light. I like this composition with the rocks forming a frame for the cows. It all gives a real sense of place. My only criticism is that on my monitor, the cows are soft.

I think this is a cute picture of a squirrel with their paws in the typical position. I like that the squirrel fills the frame and how the tail sweeps across the image. On my monitor all of the image seems a little soft and I wonder it's due to your shutter speed. That is a little slow to get the detail of fir. In my experience, you need to be up at least to 1/500 to get good detail on the fir. Also, on my monitor, the squirrel is magenta. The green leaves are quite saturated and green but the squirrel is definitely magenta. |

In my opinion, this is a nice POV of the mushrooms. I like the brightness of the mushroom as compared to the foreground and background. I also like the detail on the edge of the large mushroom. On my monitor, the small mushroom looks fuzzy, as does the stem of the large mushroom. This is must my opinion, but I like the dirk flecks in the raw image. I think they tell the story and don't detract from the image. |
