I will try to resize it tomorrow. The first one I made & tried to post gave me a message that the image needed to be less than 1MB to post so I Reduced it to 1MB |

Wow, this is one beautiful bird and you caught him in fabulous light which makes this image. The diagonal compositon is strong and your DoF was spot on to render the bird sharp and the background blurred with those nice tones. Your POV worked well to light the berries and the top of the birds head and back and also give catchlight in his eyes. My only suggestions would be to take down the shadow on his face just a little and to remove the cobweb string on the bottom of the branch. |

Wow, who can resist Dogwoods in bloom! I like the framing effect of the deck and I think this has possibilities. I find this interesting although I may not have included the bottom railing. The bottom railing, top rail and the horizontal shade line divide the image horizontally in unequal thirds. I think these divisions are accidental and to me don't contribute positively to the compositon. I love the blue sky and the colors in sunny, top half of the image. to me, the image would be more pleasing with more even lighting. With the variable lighting, more shadows are created which causes there to be more detail in an already busy image. I'm attaching a crop of the image which takes a little off the bottom. |

I still think it's amazing that you have cardinals in your backyard. That's just so wonderful. It seems like your exposure was good and I really like the quality of the reds. I think it's the noise from the high ISO that interferes with the clarity and sharpness of the feathers. Also, I wonder if you had opened up your aperature a little more if it would have blurred the background more and still left enough of the bird sharp? Currently, although the background isn't sharp, I feel like it's distracting. My other question is whether you could have changed your POV and been able to capture more light in his eyes? |
