Patrick, I liked your first one, but I like this one better. Not only does it provide better balance, but I think seeing more of the cloud formation adds to the image as well. |

I like how Jody calmed down the foreground with the blur, etc. I think the white area (lower left foreground) needs the white darkened as well. I still like the concept very much. |

The colors in this are so appealing. The perspective with the leading lines is quite appealing. The lighted window does not bother me, but I do agree that the light is somewhat over powering. |

Sometimes our plan doesn't work for everyone. I agree, the train just appears as a solid wall to me, but after re-reading your explanation, I understand what your were trying to do. I think you accomplished your goal.... stick with it. |

Wow! I have seen this lighthouse but not from this view. I not only enjoy this viewpoint, but you have done very well with your post processing. It all looks very natural. The shutter speed is just right as we have good wave action without being oversharp. |

Thank you for including the original. As everyone else has said, you did an excellent job capturing the action. Your final crop and blur on the background enhance an already outstanding nature shot. |

I think I prefer Leonid's version as the original appears washed out to me. You did a good job of making sure none of the faces is mottled by the lights and shadows of the trees. I'm guessing that using a flash enabled you to even that all out? It does look very staged as even the plates are all facing the same direction. Probably great for purposes of the magazine, but if it was an actual family portrait, too staged for my taste. |

I, too, like the concept but tend to agree with Patrick and Leonid, that the whites in the foreground are distracting. Interestingly, I was actually given a Kodak similar to the camera in the photo. You have given me some ideas.... |

Thank you, Walter. I'm not sure of the aperture as for some reason did not save the metadata when I uploaded it to my computer. |

This was shot from our balcony which is about 30 ft from the tree, handheld. I recropped it to eliminate the oof tree and made an adjustment to the light balance. What do you think? |
