I'm not sure if gigapixel would work in this situation?

It looks like a beautiful scene. Having the lady looking out over the view certainly makes the image more interesting. I noticed the halo on the mountains as well. Did you try some different bw options? It might solve the problem of her pants being a little too bright. I feel like your blacks are too black and when contrasting with the whites (such as the lichen on the stone wall), gives a heavy, dark feel to the image. I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for?

I think you also lost some pixels by cropping so much, such that detail has been lost in the feathers. Regardless, I love this image. The position of the bird, catchlight in the eye, beak open ready to snatch the berry. It all works great. The background is perfect. I agree with the replacement of the berry for the leaf. I've only seen a couple of these in my life. |

Judy, you do come up with interesting ideas! I think this was a good choice for a pencil sketch version. Actually, I prefer your original version with the gold dome. The all bw are interesting, but the original holds my attention more. It says "wow! look at me!!" I almost wonder if a clear sky would be better. The image is busy enough without it. A blank space might give the eye a place to rest.

Interesting discussion about birds! Just fyi, there is an app called Merlin by The Cornell lab. You can load it on your phone and identify thousands of birds plus create a life list.
Yes, you did lose pixels when you cropped, but the image is still lovely. The bird's position on the feeder with its head turned, contrasted against the dark of the metal, is especially nice. I like Judy's crop and Leonid's version with the background blurred. Thanks for sharing this image. |

Classic Puget Sound look: water, ferry, mountains. I especially like that you chose the little Anderson Island ferry as part of your subject. I don't think the small boat in the background adds anything and so would clone it out. I am glad you kept the trees on the left. It gives the viewer a clue as to where the ferry is departing from. Plenty of room on the right foreground for the ferry to "move into". Great job with the sky. It looks totally natural. The water in the original is smoother. I wonder if you could mask the water to retain that look as it seems you have globally sharpened the image. |

Definitely an eye catching image. I seldom recommend flipping an image horizontally, but you might try it here. I believe it is Blake Rudis (f64academy.com) who suggests that images facing left as this is, look to the past; images facing to the right, look forward into the future. Are your subjects pushing forward or are they holding back the past? Just a thought. |

Thank you Judy. I agree. I'm going to remove the white flowers in the back.
