Thanks Jody. I agree. I should have used a smaller aperture. Not sure why I didn't??

Good environmental shot of the bird. I agree with the others that the background is distracting. There are several ways to improve this including using masks. I would encourage you to continue to work on it. |

This would be a difficult scene to capture with the high wind and presumably sand and salt spray in the air. Even with a tripod it would be difficult to get a sharp image. Did you try using higher shutter speeds that day? It seems like 1/400 would be low given the circumstances. To focus more on the storm action, I cropped out much of the sky. I'm ambivalent about removing the sign because it is part of the story, along with the fencing. |

You have taken a beautiful snow scene and turned it into a magical one. Where the original has flat light, the final image has lovely soft lighting. The crop is excellent. Judy mentioned the tree trunks. I think they are fine except the largest on the left. You might look at reducing the luminance on that one tree. I like using Topaz as well. You've made excellent choices here. |

Walter, I very much enjoyed looking at your image. I agree with the others that you have an excellent composition with the leading lines of the waterways and streets. The blue and gold tones result in a good color palette. Just the right amount off sky, horizon is level. Well done.

Thanks. I think I would not have taken the shot if the couple were not sitting on the bench.

Judy,
Sorry that I cannot replace your image once we start having comments. By doing so we would lose the comments. I appreciated reading the conversation between you and Bill regarding your image. Your creative view of your neighbor's display is very inspiring. It is the type of image that encourages me, at least, to look at something fairly routine and turning it into something magical. Thank you for sharing! |
