Thanks Jessica! I actually had not looked at it that way but if you view it "in reverse", it does look like old ripped paper laid over the black areas.

Yes. I think moving the sky would be a good idea. I will do that. Thanks!

Beautiful bird. Love the position of the bird in his habitat. I took it into LR and PS to make some slight color adjustments. The lighting seems a little flat to me so I tried to bring out the blue of the bird more, soften and desaturate the background a little. Also I removed the blue spot. |

I agree, I would try a different background The current on is too busy and detracts from the subject flower. Where did you place your lighting? I would like to see the stamens lit more. A good reminder, I need to bring my light box out. It's been awhile.

Jody can have the pretzel, I will take the chocolate! :-) The cupcakes make an interesting subject with their varied decorations and swirls. I realize you probably could not take these and rearrange them, but shot directly down as you have done, it leaves us with a sort of hole in the middle with the subjects around the edges. Your processing is well done but I added a little Expressionism from Topaz. Suggesting something off-the-wall, why not add text? This could be an interesting poster or greeting card? Or image to hang in a kitchen area? Just some ideas.

I like what you have done Leonid. I wanted to include the black areas to show that I was looking through something, but your version also has merit. Thank you.

Thank you Robert. I agree, I like the relative softness of the pine branches. I'm wondering if the halo is from the sky replacement I used? I'll try another and see if that is the cause.

First I have to state that I am very partial to this type of image. Your friend is well placed in the image with the leading lines of the fence as well as what appear to be footprints in the snow, leading to him. Your friend and the barn provide us with just the color we need. My only suggestion is regarding the snowfall. It looks like it has been added. I've seen others with this and it always bothers me that the snow fall at the top edge of the image is the same as further into the image. Real snow falling is not that even in my experience. Not sure how you can adjust that. I still enjoy the image as it is. |

This is a very appealing image. Actually, I like you original as well. The original makes me feel as if I am walking through a field of high grass and flowers. But with your final, I can enjoy the beauty of the butterfly as well as the flower it is on. Background is perfect. I agree that reversing the cropped version was a good decision. Although I don't think we always have to follow the left-to-right-read, in this case I believe it works well. I agree with Robert's suggestion to brighten the wings, perhaps not quite as much as he did. |
