30 Jun 21 Comment A very interesting subject. I do agree that increased background blur is the way to go. We still need to be able to see the background items, but both Judy and Leonids versions draw our attention to the central subject better. Jun 5th
30 Jun 21 Reply I like Leonid's suggestion. Jun 5th
30 Jun 21 Comment First: cute kid! I think you did a great job of getting in the catcher, the batter and the ball. Having spent many years photographing our youngest grandson at these ball games, I know how hard it is to do that. Baseball is difficult: fences, do you include the people in the background? Do you blur them? What angle do you shoot from? etc. The only suggestion I have is to remove the yellow cast. Otherwise, great shot, tells the story! Our little guy is now 21 and his college team just came in second in the NAIA national championship this week! So your image really touched me. Jun 5th
30 Jun 21 Reply Thanks for the suggestion, Leonid. I think the consensus is definitely to darken the tree and possibly some leaves a little more. Jun 5th
30 Jun 21 Comment Judy's version is more of what I had in mind, but the waterline still looks tilted. Also, I agree with a color change. Jun 4th
30 Jun 21 Reply Jody, Thanks for the suggestion. I had wondered if the tree was too bright. I didn't mean to cause confusion by the title. Both the small purplish and large green leaves are those of two varieties of violets. There are no violets actually blooming in the image. As a backyard gardener in the PNW, I forget that not everyone would recognize that! Jun 4th
30 Jun 21 Reply I can do that, thanks Robert. Jun 4th
30 Jun 21 Comment I enjoy seeing geometric designs in nature. I would like to see the beach color a little less saturated. See my example. Jun 3rd
30 Jun 21 Comment This is a great capture of parent and chick. I, too, felt the colors could be improved. In LR I warmed up the colors and darkened the browns in the background. Jun 3rd
30 Jun 21 Comment I like the concept of framing the shot with the flowers, but I still don't think it is working in this image. For me there is too much empty sky in the middle of the image. Also, the waterline on the far side appears to slant to the left. Jun 3rd
30 Jun 21 Comment I'm always happy to see when we try something out of the norm for us. This is a great place to share this work. I agree, since there is really nothing of interest in the sky, I would crop it significantly. As the gentleman said to the barber, "take a little of the sides" too! BW works well. I'm guessing this was taken mid day?

42 Jun 21 Comment Robert, I like what you did with the crop. I think I would enjoy it more if the white petals had a little less texture showing.
