Robert, thanks for the explanation and for your efforts. I wouldn't be surprised if you are right about my camera not being level, but rather, pointing up a little. |

I just made a couple adjustments based on your comments and those of others. I've not mastered cloning something in from another image, but I agree, it needs a subject. |

We seem to have a common theme this month (including mine): what is the subject? I do like Robert's suggestions of straightening the horizon and increasing the luminence and/or saturation a little .... not too much. I believe there is a dust spot or bird in the right hand cloud. I would remove that. |

I like Judy's version as well, although I lose the sense of symphony in that version. |

Leonid, It is always interesting to see what you come up with in your composites. You said you had visited this railway station? I am curious, did you modify an existing photo or did you create this from the beginning, just remembering the railway station? As far as the shadow under the chair, I did not initially notice it either. Do you suppose you could extend a shadow of the front leg of the chair? (The one closest to the stove) The other three legs have shadows but not this one. Perhaps that would help? Love the variety of old suitcases in this image. |

Another beautiful flower image. I love the color of the leaves as a background for the flower. I think I would try pulling back the luminance, especially on the center of the flower, as it seems somewhat blown out. I do enjoy the little hairs on the edges of the petals. Good detail in that!

I think the bw is fine. In my eye, there really is no subject here, so I also would come in much closer, find an interesting branch and let the rest of the field blur. |

I think you chose an excellent subject. It feels like part of a musical symphony to me. I think it is the gracefulness of the stalk and the repetitive curved leaves. I feel as though music would be playing in the background as this stalk swayed in the breeze. I don't have any suggestions. Perhaps a trifle off the left and an equal amount added to the right?

Jessica it seems to me that your 50mm worked just fine. Your beautiful dog is sharp, the background blurred. The most important part of the image is Dimante and in this image her eyes are sharp, we can see detail in the color and texture of her fur. Love the position of her head and body as she tries to figure out what you are doing?! The snow is blown out and that is unfortunate. Keep your ISO low and possibly use a polarizing filter. I understand you should treat your shoot as if you are photographing in bright light (which it is).
