Leonid, did you change the sky? I like your version.

Leonid, I think you have two photos here. Crop it right down the center so you have a left and a right. Left, fog, water, dirt and plant life. Right side, has the road and dirt and plants. Check it out and see what you think. |

The detail and lighting on his hat is perfect! Very nice presentation. Other than Robert's comment, I have no suggestions. But now I don't feel so silly about having photographed workmen around our house.

Very nicely done. The soft colors, square crop and vignette work together. As you referenced, I am not reluctant to put a white vignette on an image, but if you are going to use it for competition, the judges are 100% against it. But, I say, use what pleases you and what suits how it is going to be used.

I agree, I prefer the more realistic look as you have shown us here, rather than the cottony appearance. I like your composition, with the waves rolling over the group of rocks. Photographing water is often like photographing snow, the sensor tends to give it a blue cast. I would recommend playing with your white balance and see if you can remove some of the blue cast. Over all, very nice.

We've stayed in Ashville a couple of times and visited the Biltmore. Would love to return! I agree with a slightly closer crop. Looks like you were at the outer limits of your lens range. I don't know why, but when I view it on the website, the image looks dark, but when I loaded it into LR, it was brighter? Anyway, I cropped a little, used the LR radial filter to slightly brighten the Biltmore, and used the graduated filter to brighten and intensify the water. I also took it into Topaz and used AI to remove the noise from the sky. See what you think. |

Robert, Congratulations on the new camera. I am enjoying my mirrorless Nikon and my husband loves his mirrorless Fujifilm. Mirrorless is definitely the way to go. I really enjoy the warm light this image has. Great job with the background. At first I preferred the first version, but the the more I look at the two, the more I like the original. I think they are both well done. |

For this image, I wanted more of a cornucopia effect with produce spilling out. Cropping more would negate that effect.
