I agree with Robert's comment. L-R is pounded into us by our local camera club judges, although of course, there are always exceptions.

For me, the leaves do seem to over power the cherub. And, just as with a human, the light and shadow across his face, bothers me somewhat. I know you were inspired by the leaves, but since you cut off the tip of the longest anyway, why not crop it closer? Also, I think seeing the entirety of the base detracts from the image as well. I tried a couple of things. One example, I used a more severe crop, removed some shadows on the fountain base and brightened the cherub. On the other example, a lesser crop, but otherwise the same. Both of mine I added a slight vignette. |

The colors make for a striking image. I agree with the others, this really calls for using a tripod. I'm not sure I agree for more dof however. I, too, enjoy photographing this sort of subject but am still working on getting the right combination for my taste. |

Thanks Jessica. I think you are right, she needs to be "lost" in the grass.

Robert, my crop was just a suggestion, so you may be right. The more I look at it, I have to say, the more I like it in bw. Reminds me of pictographs. Maybe sepia?? |

Thank you Robert. Yes,we have to be aware of when we do/ do not need a release. This was in a state park, public access, so I think I am ok here. There will be a speaker (attorney, I believe) at the PSA Conference in October. My husband Bob and I will be there and plan on attending that presentation. Hopefully they can help clarify. |

Beautiful image. I like the leading lines, the colors, reflection. Excellent composition. I'm not sure, but it seems a little tilted to me. I made a minor adjustment. |

A rather amusing image, good eye to have seen it! Have you considered a bw version? I also narrowed it by cropping top/bottom. |

I'm not sure I have ever seen these? I can see why you like them, very pretty. Thank you for including your "inspiration". I think you did well with your crop and transforming the image. I think your focus and dof are well done. Since your subject is the sea oat stem, I took it into LR and reduced the shadows on the oats to brighten them. Then I increased the saturation in the sky very slightly. |

Your image has strong leading lines. I like your idea of the blue chairs and white boats. Did you take this from any other angles? I'd like to see one where the chairs (or one chair) was a little more dominant in the image. That aside, I tried cropping out some of the sky (I don't feel like the sky and boat rigging add much to the image), increased the saturation of the wooden dock as it feels to me as if it needs more contrast. |
